  2. Should have bought a Verisure plaque.
  3. RE: Mr Happy it was advertised as so with the following blurb when I enquired (as you can tell I am not an expert, I ordered 2 units ans the other works fine): This decoy has a solar panel located behind the blue lens which is connected to the included rechargeable battery. With daylight the battery charges and is kept topped up. The battery pack when fully charged has a voltage of 4.8v and the LEDs only require a small amount of power above 3v to flash. There is enough capacity in the battery to keep the LEDs flashing for several weeks even in there was no daylight. During winter there is still daylight which will charge the battery so the LEDs will flash. Once fitted you can leave it for several years and it will keep on flashing. The decoy cover is identical to the live siren and will look like you have a real alarm. ADT is probably the best known alarm company in the UK so fitting their decoy will be a great deterrent. Hope that helps. Have a great day and best regards.
  4. Thanks - I did power up again had leds for about 2 seconds and then nothing. I will check the above - thanks again
  5. Its likely one of the diodes has blown, sometimes you can tell which one because the diode splits or looks wet, other than that you would have to desolder each one and measure it. Also look closely at the board both sides you may have burnt a track. Burning smell is another big give away that something has blown
  6. Thanks again - so I tried this, the led flashed once and there was a small beep when I reattached the wires as above - but then nothing beyond that. I can try and leave a bit longer to charge and try again. Beyond that if it is damaged by reversed polarity, is there something I can replace to fix this? Or would it be more serious and more of a write-off situation? Thanks
  7. Last week
  8. Reversing the polarity may have damaged it, it probably at least discharged the battery. Down power completely for 5 mins then power it back up. Or down power it leave it to charge for a while then power it up
  9. Thanks - I've swapped the the red to pos and black to neg on the bat side - no LED still unfortunately
  10. red lead in neg ? black lead in pos ?
  11. Thanks for your quick response - it was flashing during daytime (in light) previously so don't think this is the issue. The solar panels are the 2 x green parts towards the bottom (housed below transculent blue plastic) - I can add another image if needed also.
  12. Does it have a day/night varistor sensor ? It may only flash when its dark to save power during the daytime. Where is the solar panel I cant see it in the picture. The normal (non solar powered) leds with 2 AA batteries normally last a couple of years so long as the day night sensor is out.
  13. I bought this solar/battery powered dummy alarm recently. All I want to work is the flashing LED. I connected the battery (which was not connected) and the LED alternate flash was working for around 1 week, though no longer more. I can only presume that the battery is no longer charging for whatever reason? The device has been left i a sunny window sill until installation. Please can you advise how I can fix this to ensure LED will flash with solar as main power source and battery as back up? Thanks
  14. Iirc you can replace an existing but not add or remove devices with out software
  15. Hello, I am interested on algotec protec 6500 panel, can i add device in loop without software? and how can i do it?
  16. QFA they will charge to sort it out, but like most good companies they will have a solution
  17. none are likely to work correctly when needed, you either need a digiair as signalling up grade, of replace the controls to one which uses an app
  18. Thank you, your help is much appreciated. Regards.
  19. If its still under contract speak to them and let them sort it out.
  20. You could try but there is no guarantee it will work properly. You will also have the issue that a power cut will disable the alarm signalling. Best option is to upgrade the system/signalling to a more modern digital compatible one.
  21. I have a very old intruder alarm which uses an autodialler to contact ADT for monitoring. I am about to be switched to Digital Voice by BT. I understand that I can use an ATA so that the alarm can still contact ADT via Digital Voice. What ATA would be best for this? Thanks!

  23. Good evening all. Looking for some help regarding wiring a Texecom Odyssey XB-E bellbox into a very old but working perfectly ADE Optima 2 Plus control panel. Been something like 30 years since I ventured up the ladder to fit the original Flashguard bellbox which has recently failed. I've sourced the aforementioned Texecom bellbox as a replacement and would much appreciate the kind folk on here confirming what I think to be the correct connections between the two as this would hopefully help me avoid making any more than one trip up the ladder to complete the job. (Several trips up the ladder result in much aching of my, these days, not so young legs !) I've included a diagram of the terminals at the bellbox and a picture of the terminals at the control panel. Your help / advice with this small issue would be very much appreciated. Regards, Dave Walton.

  25. Thankyou again. Sorry mistook 'everything' to mean 'every-pir', but yes everything means everything!
  26. so even if you only have 1 keypad connected on line 1 addressed as 1 it still doesnt work. Have you also tried a temp small cable just out of the panel to prove the wiring?
