  1. If it is so simple why are you talking about wiring normally closed detectors in parallel or dualtechs for detecting bricks? My question was because your initial few posts seemed like you were a sparky who had bitten off more than you can chew on a clients job. Happy bodging.

  3. No movement detector will detect a 'flying brick' A dualtec needs both technologys to activate not just the mic etc. If you had a sensor that sensitive it would be going off all the time. That's fine when all its doing is turning a light on, not so much for an intruder alarm. You need to protect the perimeter as above ie glass break (I hate them) vibration (not advisable on a front high street window, or foil. Id also politely suggest you don't keep saying 'this is simple / plug and play etc' when talking to the people you want advice from and know more than you or you wouldn't be asking.

  4. Ex Construction Engineer, Banker, software eng.... blah blah blah But inexperienced in the field of "alarm monkeying" Even with your 2 degrees you made the mistake of employing a "prick end" to "bell up" your cafe... I suspect you didn't use a proper co. The basic function of the alarm movement detector is to detect an intruder within the "protected premise" vandalism of the brick coming though the window isn't an intruder

  5. They saved that bit of the training for the supermasters with honours. I'm saving up tokens from the back of cereal boxes to get it.

  6. Ray, a quick right click and Google of your username shows all anyone would need to know, nothing sinister, nothing cloak and dagger, simple Google.

  7. That info is available to anyone. Surely an alarm expert with more degrees than a circle and an it consulting business would know that? milk and 2 in mine.

  18. No. The port information is not available to anyone.

  19. I'm talking about the power supply. But even if I wasn't I don't agree with your conclusion. If I have a bunch of sensors independently going back to the control unit it would only take one to send a signal back and trigger the alarm. That's good to know. I will check that out. I did try to find one because I wanted to test both of them before going near the system. They are only cheap. No luck though.

  20. The commentator above doesn't know enough about me or my background to pass judgement. As I said, there is nothing complicated about this stuff. It's just a matter of familiarization.

  21. I intend to connect these sensors to a 12v DC adapter and test their response on the bench and see what the difference is. It will be an interesting exercise.

  22. Well, here's the thing. You quoted in one comment the port numbers from which I am posting comments. You don't get those off the net. You get those from log files. In your first posted comment on this thread you went out of your way to use your system access privileges to look up my personal details and then proceed to make me aware that you had done so by means of pseudo cryptic commentary. I have no idea why you felt the need to do that and do it in response to a comment that I made to another member. Not you.. Still, I'm a hairy bloke so no problem. But if I were a female somebody might think that a little worrying. But whether you think it a problem or not is irrelevant. You are abusing your access privileges and for that I think you should have them removed. What do you think?

  23. Like I said, you don't get port numbers from the net. I don't live in the cafe.... and you lost me again with this "Wow how come those quals ain't working,"
