  2. There wouldn't be anything stopping you insuring something twice no, insurance will just take your money like they do. I mean you can be insured for a vehicle your not entitled to drive, until you have a bump and they refuse to pay saying your not insured. That doesn't make it allowed by the insurance company, they don't want to be in a situation where there is an argument between second parties who sorts out the first party, so there will be a caveat for this. As I say that's how it was explained to me by a broker.

  4. bear in mind using a car policy does not cover you to drive a commercial vehicle 3rd party. ie our vans are insured for any employee to drive on company business. However i couldnt drive one 3rd party on my car cover

  5. insured by 2 different parties no different to the garage being able to drive my van on their insurance or me hiring / borrowing a van & having it insured by me & the owner of the vehicle having it insured

  6. I had an engineer ask me if he can still use his van (its his only transport) I allow them to use it for private milage so long as they pay for their fuel. I checked with the insurer and was told the vehicle can only be used for business use and if the employee in question is working, and he is clearly not if furloughed. Normally I can get away with private useage as all engineers are on call and could be called at anytime and so have to take their van with them wherever they go. But whilst on furlough its not possible to say this. Also his Liability insurance wont be valid for you, so if you fall off your ladder you're fecked, if you drop your drill from up the ladder on someones head your fecked. So not only is you're boss breaking the law and both you and him can be done for fraud, you're not insured, to drive, have an accident, or cause an accident.

  8. I'd suggest it's past it. But if you want to keep it I'd bridge the Reed and use the external connections only. But as its the oldest electronic thing in your house it must be time to upgrade or if your not fussed just decommission it You ought to look into wireless polling etc not just assume a signal will make it. The rf environment is way different now than when that was considered good

  9. I suppose it's possible that your employer could go bandit and say you where not given permission to drive the vehicle therefore you would be liable unless you have some document stating otherwise. MOT, vehicle condition and vehicle tax I would say are drivers responsibility to make sure they are in order, insurance is more a split issue as you wouldn't be able to check without the policy documents which are likely for the fleet. Vehicle would technically be insured twice which isn't allowed AFAIK
