  1. Trade v Retail If your a small co. you can probably buy most things off the web cheaper than ADI ect... Operating trade accounts & branches cost money,
  2. its in tamper / needs reseting after a tamper,
  3. I'd assume basic employed directly with sky would be comparable to an alarm co. ? I'd assume OTE would be daylight hrs on a weekend ? I'd also assume most SKY work is easier than security ?
  4. if you've no preconceived ideas of how something should work why waste your efforts with a 9600 ? If you learn the most commonly used commercial panel you'll most likely get a start on servicing at a regional or national co. If a certain national can train ex bus drivers or employ "2 screw" the Forest Gump of alarms, I'm certain Nero the Sky Man will do just fine
  5. play with it for a bit contact a couple of larger local co's which use this product & ask for service engineers job... good luck,
  6. In theory a shaved monkey should be able to do it, But if you can get fully comp maintenance for £150 inc vat & parts...
  7. Sound like they'd need an IT guy, cira 5p a a message & min charge of £1 a month = lots & lots of connections to make it pay ?
  8. okay, I was hoping you found a position with co. who where going to train you ect...
  9. Working for yourself ?
  10. Thought you where a teenage alarm hobbyist / collector ? Are you now doing this as a job ?
  11. powered contacts & pa button ? this the easiest way to DIY fault find, normally you take & record resistant readings of each circuit,
  12. what measurement have you taken ?
  13. You measured stuff with a multi meter ?
  14. whilst flying the plane ?
  15. oh dear, we assume the engineer was on your site without the knowledge or consent of his employer, If he's ringing up the ARC & checking up on your signalling account, there'll be a log on the activity reports, Should the company find out he's probably going get finished,
  16. You got a singed jobsheet for his visit ?
  17. The risk of SMS signalling is the messages being being delayed or lost, After head aches with subscribers failing to manage sims / credit, network outage, claims of not signalling... it does'nt have a proper a audit trail it so it not really suitable for a security system With a URN the police attend on a confirmed intruder, however the keyholders are also meant to attend & not solely rely on a police attendance as its prioritised on their work load. Last month- 1 genuine break in burglars in a factory, they left with £60 of pretty cash before keyholder & police attended 1 rat chewing a cable to produce an alarm & then a tamper within a confirmation window Both attended by the police.
  18. You was moaning your scantronic didn't silence & reset off the r/r input on the stu footprint ? Its old tat, if you wish to diy support it then its your choice, Your GSM things looks look "chinky ebay special", this one they claim is "grade 2" https://www.controlfreqgsm.com/collections/2g-and-3g-gsm-alarm-auto-diallers/products/gsm-alarm-auto-dialler-compatible-with-all-alarm-systems-and-sensors#.WOihC7g6BrM I'd suspect its not
  19. Does this chap turn up for free ?
  20. it either been skinned to lay flatter or the outer insulation has been damaged then removed ? who knows, subscriber might have complained about a bump in the carpet & this was the solution ? Its appear to have been in place sometime...
  21. when the alarm was done in 80's it was very unusual to gut & completely redo a house in one hit. the cable skinned across the door way would be so it wouldn't be seen under a thinning carpet, the soldiered joints where quite nicely done its probably given decades of service... If you've the budget to have all the boards up & replace all the doors, why haven't you got £150 for decent controls ?
  22. Being a simple alarm monkey, there's a no. of different BT hub's I had recent one where it took 2hrs off f#cking around as the menu's where despite have the port forward set up I needed to redo the setting a 2nd time hidden deep in advanced menu, I hate them almost as thompson / techincolour routers
  23. rkp is the same plastics as the informa speed dialer, the adecmo I'm think of would be 4140/4170 & this sort of thing ?
