  1. interesting, Hietel, the wankshed arc is probally a little more robust than most, would I be able to flood a ******* arc by sending a routine call every 1min ? Today I was playing with a smartdisc 10 (my own ) anybody got the settings to put a **** adata ip cam on it ?
  2. there ip thing ? Might have asked before, but if I have say a few hundred units sending you test calls every minute would it piss you off ?

  5. an old A&G panel came in last week, but I would assume its way too modern...
  6. 20 yr old alarm parts turn up on ebay, electricians don't do pcb repairs, an electronics workshop maybe able to help you with this however I suspect its way cheaper to chance 2nd user items form fleabay. £480.00 for replacement isn't that dear when you consider the 9600 & 2 x 9625's would a £250 ish back in the 90's before labour
  7. Burnley appears to be a popular subject ?
  8. Apollo on site guide ?
  9. Putting them on a "wall of shame" would not achieve this, Among others,
  10. Perhaps if the NSI did something a little more proactive to protect their brand eg- maybe chances would think twice ?

  15. for a pound, you'd never be able to pinch it from WH Smith due the new cameras & it would be too heavy to run with
  16. I want Arf to publish his memoirs.... A single volume would keep a family in toilet paper for months
  17. Well if you had access to a popular security website you could do a beta guide say to how fit an EWD's ? eg a little A5 leaflet with one fitted to brick showing the cable coming though the wall length of screws a knot in the cables ect... no. 2 being on cladding with plate bolted though ect... no.3 a decoy bell which flashes & has a £90.00 pmv for wiping with damp rag & Arf believes would encourage people to buy proper alarms.....
  18. JW if you or a body your involved with was looking to write a book to help the industry I would look towards the NIC EIC "snags & solutions" as template. Available in print which as an A5 type spiral bound book but also appears as editorial in "professorial electrician" eg one snag every month However I'd say the market for an electrical book is much bigger than an alarm book ? if this was successful a "on site guide" would be the next bigger / more comprehensive project
  19. I'd assume there would never been a return on the time involved or cost of publication ? I 'dgo with free electronic book & ask for donations ? A "f#ckwits guide to alarm monkeying" could be a the working tittle ?
  20. ISO requirement ?
  21. IMHO the equipment is fit for purpose, due to checks & balances in put in place. (Every day there's activation reports received which are checked against our records so we should be able to find system reset w/o aid of ARC / installer) Anti-code reset is a cheap & cheerful way of providing a simple means to manage the resetting of signalling alarms, high levels of cryptography ain't a big issues for me. Don't forget where still in as world where lots of systems are still on redcares & digi as mobile & internet ain't everywhere.
  22. its not in armed state, "reset a system" would be correct ?
  23. Interesting, can't say I understand any of it but intend to sit down in darken rm & read though it proper
