  1. You have appliances made by a company who builds cranes ? http://home.liebherr.com/en/gbr/household-appliances/appliances-for-households.html
  2. We was using confirmation a long time ago before EN on abacus panels, even the old gardtec 800 had alarm B on it. What really annoyed me was our main panel at the time was the abacus which used pin 5 on the plug on, then for EN somebody decided it should be pin 7. The plug on pins where a industry standard format by Scantronic and other panel manufactures adopted the same foot print which in them days the pins were not programmable so a move from 5 to 7 was a PITA.
  3. Both points valid, but the standards state a system has to be installed to a grade and they insurance companies know little about the grades of systems and i as the designer have to carry out a risk assessment which i have no formal quals for and the insurance company accepts the spec. Shouldn't the insurance companies be doing the risk assessments and passing what they require to us? Should have put, as per Pete's post.
  4. Everybody says its down to the insurance company's, they don't have that much input on the standards they copy and paste from BSIA guidelines, and they nearly always spec grade 4 signalling as its the only thing they know. All the insurance company's i have dealt recently, quote Redcare or dualcom, when asked which redcare or dualcom as there are different versions they just come back with silence.
  5. Its down to the company. omit signal must be sent to ARC if the system rearms and force omits a circuit, but its open to interpretation, but send omit if any circuit is omitted by user.
  6. Join the BSIA ? isnt there a membership to pay Voting is free
  7. Same for some other devices on the market then, not controls.
  8. http://shop.bsigroup.com/ProductDetail/?pid=000000000000101091 1973 we joined the EU 2005 we adopted the standards, 32 years i will be retired by then to see the next change. Although i bet the BSIA and BSI rewrite some that we have to hold in the mean time.
  9. Funny that as they are one vehicle that holds money longer than most.
  10. Never been fully working to EU standards, so now the UK is out why aren't the EU standards going to be dropped. Whats was ever wrong with tin foil strips across a window?
  11. I think the security industry needs to vote Load of **** I think you should have a choice and no have it pushed on you by the BSIA
  12. I meant the equipment to capture the signal and turn the alarm off. My mistake
  13. Cant see it happening for a couple of reason's 1) Most yale alarms are on houses that couldn't afford a proper Grade2X system, that why they have purchased a DIY kit. 2) If you have the equipment needed and the know how, then your probably all ready employed in the IT / electronics field on £30K + so why would you want to target the people in 1. Also if the Yale alarms are installed DIY and not covered by a maintenance contract by a Co for the NSI or SSAIB firm, the insurance Co treats the premises as if it hasn't got an alarm (no discounts)
  14. Replaced one about 3months ago made by BSB
  15. in this game if its 8 years old its probably been super-seeded and not made anymore
  16. Why run the poer to the relay at the contact and back? Run the contact wires to the panel RB007 trasistorized relay then its only doing 200m
  17. Hes using a relay to switch it, so the power must be local to the LED so volt drop doesnt matter. 12vdc 1k resistor
  18. Seen one of ours on a list that a certain distributor / manufatory gives photocopies out to people, funny really as its a code we use for a subbie to put in to set a system up, then when we go to commission the site its changed. Not used that subbie since and will never use again as the trust has gone. And we know who it was as every subbie has there own code issued. Agree with that,
  19. Galaxy RSS has a place on comms server where you put your UDL code
  20. We went to take over a large site with a G3 on it, had engineers code changed by losing company connected up the laptop, and it wouldn't connect. in the g3 panel there is no pace to program the downloader ID or system ID so unless you know them you are not connecting to the panel unless you crash it and reprogram it. When we install a new system them site is then sent to our server which generates a system ID and puts our downloader ID in to the panel, then if we take a laptop to that site the only way to connect to it is to export the file from our server and import it on our laptop. Might of missed something but where on a G3 can you programe the downloader ID ?
  21. Password, system ID and site ID required in filled in, if its a new site UDL password will do for G2 but once a G3 connects the software gives it a system ID If you do a automated call via RSS it creates a virgin site and gives the panel a system ID which the only way to get round is to crash the panel, unless you have the system ID
  22. We have full undongled version on server. if you go to site and use laptop that has a version installed and try to connect to a panel that has already been connected to by RSS it wont let you even if the UDL password in the comms is the same. Any sites that have been connected to via RSS on server we have to export site from server and import on laptop for it to connect, so there must be something going on. Only have issues with G3 panels
  23. I was under the impression it was still licensed, we still have to fill in a form the get updates http://www.security.honeywell.com/uk/products/intruder/control-panels/accessories/programming/466168.html Part Number Description R056-CD-L Galaxy Remote Servicing Suite kit with license R057-CD-DG Galaxy Remote Servicing Suite (Network enabled) with one Dongle R058-CD-DG Galaxy User Management Suite, with one Dongle YY0-0010 Additional 1-user dongle for R057 and R058 Doesnt the software generate a password for virgin sites which is unique to your license number ? And its not freely downloadable.
