  1. Problem is your budget, and any panel I would recommend would not really be aimed at the DIY market. Our engineers have all been trained on the panels we install and even then they get stuff wrong, and tech support will only talk to registered companies. As a diyer with a small budget, I would not recommend you blow your budget on the most expensive panel only to find that you don't understand how to program it and you cant get any support.
  2. If you are competent at running cables I would go hardwired every time. The hardest bit for you as the DIYer is probably the programming. Other than battery on going costs, and having to get up to the bell box, there are other things to consider with wireless. We have several customers with obsolete wireless systems, we cannot get replacement detectors which means when it goes wrong we have to replace the system completely with another wireless. With a hard wired system the same thing could happen, but any hw detector will work with the panel and any panel will work with the detectors and bell. Dont get me wrong wireless is soo much better than it was, but it will always have its limitations. We prefer hybrid you can fit wireless in those hard to get to places and hw in others. Wireless is easier to install but no easier to program, and much more expensive to buy, hybrid is dearer, but then it would be
  3. You havent upset anyone, but there are many more topics going on in the trade forums so people are answering those topics over the DIY ones. All panels can be upgraded to GSM by adding a GSM dialer, but if you want an app based one I think you need to be careful as you may need to buy the panel with the GSM onboard I am unfamiliar with the lower end panels, the higher end have plug in capability. You could choose cheaper detectors and still be under £350.00 but you will need two rolls of cable most likely
  4. They come with £50 phones too
  5. I meant a photo? Cameras come free with phones nowadays https://www.acleigh.co.uk/access-control/salto-en/wired-equipment/salto-mifare-wrm9001-wall-reader.html
  6. picture?
  7. grr Ill Qc you in a minute!
  8. I went to China to insure that what I buy is not crap
  9. QFA most pro stuff will not have manuals set up for diyers. The manufacturers will expect you to know the difference between an exit zone and a final exit zone for example
  10. Sorry I dont install any of those panels so I cant really give you any comparison, I can say that all three are respected brands, I would say they all are much of a muchness, all tick your must have list and all have smart phone apps Apart from the hack jamming
  11. enforcer, or visonic powermax, or texecom, you will pay more for them than you would for a yale special but all three are installed by pro's and will be reliable and will work if you get an opportunist/druggy burglar, fine for average house
  12. Unfortunately any man and his dog can install and view CCTV and its up to the end user to be sure that its compliant, or at least thats the way it seems looking at some of the set ups ive seen.
  13. Well if was looking for a professional way of stopping people using my gym without paying I dont think Ebay would be my first port of call. No disrespect to Ebay I have purchased loads of stuff and sold a fair few bits (I dont anymore its full of messers ), but the stuff I buy I expect to be used, a second, or not made that well in the first place, its that sort of place, the sort of place you look for bargains and sometimes your lucky if you know what your buying
  14. Telling it like it is
  15. hi
  16. If your looking on ebay already you cant afford the kit I would advise, as others have said PC based with anti pass back expect to pay circa £1k per door installed
  17. Do you not remember, its that place that has a new machine you like, you know the one that vends mars bars, snickers, kitkats.
  18. Depends I have had to pay £260 a day before now, but I had no choice I needed to get stuff done. But it worked out quite well we had booked five days for the job, he did it in three, plus we had charged the customer a premium to get it done at short notice.
  19. Subbies down south charge between £130,00 and £260 per day depending on there ability, to be fair the ones that charge £130 take twice as long as the ones that charge £260 so you really do get what you pay for.
  20. Canadian originally, it was bought by Tyco but I dont think it was used over here that much after that, I think ADT used a different product Northern Computers? Sensor did support Kantech products for sometime after, I nearly ended up working for Kantech , but it meant several Months in Canada per year.
  21. Contact Sensor Access 01273 242355 they are not installers but they are the distributors for Kantech and will know someone I am sure. I used to know Kantec very well but its been a long time at least 15 years since Iv done anything with it.
  22. Why dont you use letters instead of numbers graphics would be too hard to remember.
  23. We are a as busy as an asian kiddy in a Nike factory
  24. China is already cheaper because the labour is cheaper than in the UK. I dont think it is the buyers so much I think its because there are so many Chinese companies competing for the same work this is what drives the price down. I used to get emails daily from China with cameras for $5 -$10 etc. So to the inexperienced person would think the average price of a basic camera in China is $7.50. Many distributors here sell a camera that looks exactly the same at £40.00. Its not until you buy some sample from China you discover they are far from the same. Many sellers offer stuff at cheap prices because they are trying to get your attention, what they dont understand is getting your attention is not the end game, if you want to be successful you need to have a constant flow to regular customers. Producing a quality product at a reasonable price (Still cheaper than you can buy in the UK) is the way to make it, this way you keep your customer happy. I have a great relationship with my CCTV supplier and my fob supplier, they know that I want quality and I dont mind paying more for it. For example because I am based close to the sea cameras I have purchased from UK distributors have corroded very quickly. But the cameras I buy direct do not, because I pay extra to have all my cameras Ausbonded, I dont mind paying more because the camera still looks good two or three years after its been installed, and because the internals are Ausbonded it will probably not fail quite as soon as the cameras that are not. China is not the only country that produces rubbish, but it is probably the worst for it, I visited some factories still producing rubbish while I was there asked why, the answer was because we are selling it, when I asked who to it was eastern Europe countries like Poland Ukraine
