  1. I wish ! No I never got to go and have a look at any of it, much to my disappointment.
  2. Hi and welcome I have a cousin that worked at Pinewood Studios building sets and stuff for the Carry On films, and many other films and series, I always thought that sort of thing was an interesting and varied job.
  3. I wish I was paid in the first place dealing with you skally wags
  4. Sorry Amps it wasnt personal, it was a split topic not for human consumption
  5. Copying just to the usb was 5hr 15min so I havent copied it over yet, I will probably do it over the weekend over the network using TV.
  6. Sussed it, make a correspond folder in the network drive (which I have done) then copy the 100gig or so of correspondence from the AM server machine to a usb drive (copying over the network would take too long) everyone has to be out of AM so I have to do this in the evening. Then copy it to the new folder and map everyone to the new drive for correspondence only, again everyone has to be out of AM whilst this is done, its gonna take a bit of planning because I cannot let anyone use AM between taking it off one machine and putting it on the server, and I cannot let anyone use AM whilst copying it to the USB so it has to be done outside working hours
  7. I need to store the scan docs to a drive on my SME server does anyone know how to set this up? It would be good to store all data on the SME
  8. Hi and Welcome
  9. Hi Wayne James is looking for an experienced engineer at Securital if you fancy a job with prospects rather than subbying for the rest of your years. http://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/community/user/6868-jameswilson/ you need to do three more posts before you can PM him but I will let him know you are around
  10. Its about twice as much as you pay Andy, so your not being ripped off. I have just filled in the yearly questionnaire and sent it of with a stool sample, and a hair from each of the engineers for DNA checking. What they dont want to know is nobody's business.
  11. Camberford Law £10mil public liability and product efficacy here
  12. I have used their cameras I would say they are v good
  13. Surely you have a contract with your staff? Confidentiality should be covered in that
  14. hi and welcome
  15. I prefer Axis and Arecont high end, though I have dabbled with Mobotix, we installed a QM24 360 camera for one of our customers which was good, but a ball ache to make it work with our NVR/DVR. Lower end its Hikvision (which is fast becoming a top brand) Dauhua I use quite a few Dynacolor/Optiva cameras nowadays. Indigo vision is a strange company closed protocol, they seem to rather lose work than sell to non authorised partners even when the customer is unhappy with the authorised partner, which in this day and age is almost suicidal for businesses in such a competitive market. Dont get me wrong I believe that the USP is not to be the cheapest, but it should not be do it our way or not at all at any cost.
  16. Hi and welcome, we have used Mobotix in the past I still have a M15 on our building
  17. Hi Renato and welcome to the forum
  18. I would highly recommend http://www.alarming.co.uk/
  19. Hi and Welcome
  20. In answer to the question, domestic small 8 is normally enough, domestic large could be more than 100 we have a couple of very large houses with 100 or more zones. Commercial the same, though some can go quite a bit bigger. Today I quoted a 20 zone domestic, a 70 zone commercial, an 8 zone domestic and a 9 zone panic system. That's not an average day but I would guess I get at least one day like this a month
  21. You could try electrical wholesalers, or ADI gardners or Enterprise or Security warehouse online
  22. Virgin have programmed the Modem to the new Mac now. I have ordered an upgrade so hopefully the problem will be no longer soon
  23. Really?? A system that is prone to false alarms is likely to go off regularly, so what happens with a system that is always making a nuisance of itself. It gets ignored, or the end user stops using it. Rubbish systems poorly installed give burglar alarms a bad press in general. Cheap cable is not a good idea when you are considering something that is designed to protect your property. As a professional installer the last thing we want is anything that can cause any sort of unreliability, we would always recommend DIYers to do the same I am sure you would say the same about CCTV surely a cheap CCTV system is better than no CCTV system. My thoughts are that a cheap CCTV system is no better than a dummy camera. A cheap CCTV system will only tell you what you already know. The Bitterness of Poor Quality remains Long after the Sweetness of Low Price is Forgotten
  24. Hi and welcome
  25. Its a paragon plus thats whats wrong Even Pyronix have stated they wont support these any longer as theyre obsolete. I think its because they were never very good to begin with
