  1. Id say closer to 20 years old, there wont be anything that will work with your existing wireless detection hard wired will be okay
  2. Electricians are not the same as alarm engineers, its like asking a dentist to remove your tonsils.
  3. QFA these things stop working for a number of reasons, but its not normally because you changed the number unless you misspelt it
  4. Any proper alarm company will be able to sort it, not sure what sort of engineer you got out but tamper is a basic thing with all alarm panels
  5. Unlikely DSC is no longer sold in the UK , and even when it was it wasn't the most popular
  6. Not necessarily the detector, it may be that its not programmed correctly, it may be that its linked out in the panel, or a cable fault.
  7. I heard the Honeywell were stopping everything apart from their biggest panels.
  8. I would say that was DIY installed, is there a fused spur? IR detectors work better in corners rather than in the centre of a room especially quads. Also I would not waste money on the cheapest detectors you can find, Optex RX40 would be my choice. There is no point to alarm system that keeps crying wolf. Im not a fan of Pyronix either but I couldn't recommend any panel available to the DIY market
  9. More or less correct well done. If your replacing the system completely I would suggest you go for hard wired as the wiring is all in place. If you need to add additional detection but have no way of wiring to the new locations then go for a hybrid panel so that you still make use of the hard wire. Wireless systems are fantastic very reliable compared to what they used to be, but there is no point in adding battery powered detection if you have cables run already, your just adding another thing that may go wrong, the batteries will always run out at the most inconvenient time.
  10. Yeah but they are not allowed to watch youtube in China so its fine
  11. Two different brands, im guessing that your old system was hard wired and it was replaced with wireless, who knows why, some people do daft things I suppose
  12. in a nutshell yes, just buy new detectors from the same manufacturer, personally though I would recommend returning it and buying a proper system or a big dog
  13. The new kit is possibly rolling code your old kit is fixed frequency. That said the newer detectors have antennas. I went to a couple of Chinese alarm factories around 5 years ago and they were not producing detectors with antennas in, so I would say those detectors are old stock which would suggest old tech
  14. Just because something is the same frequency doesnt mean its compatible in the same way a yellow door from a ford wont fit a yellow vauxhall. You need to buy everything from the same manufacturer, and in most cases the same model too.
  15. Try your local installer, they will get them trade and will retail cheaper than they seem to be online, the universal one is £31.00 plus VAT on amazon
  16. buy a handset
  17. Good evening, I have several Scantronic items in stock, including the 04604UK. If still interested the price is € 95.00. Regards.
  18. Theres always a market for cheap
  19. The downside to having the leds on all the time is that people can work out the dead spots, plus as Imran says just because the led comes on doesn't mean the detector is working
  20. Hi Dean

Thank you for your report, engineering manuals are only available to trade members, which is why you are unable to download it.

  21. Keypad failing after a two years ? Something doesnt add up was it second hand? I agree with the above get it serviced, then have it serviced regularly, it prevents problem such as the alarm going off randomly with no apparent reason
