  1. That said the dreaded Grade 3 for jobs that dont require G3 is a bloody nightmare to explain to some people. Insurance brokers are the worse, followed by customers who think that highly sensitive detectors and door contacts will be fine in their dusty old plastic factory with doors that blow open in a gentle breeze.
  2. I get tenders through daily with weird shrimps on it, insisting on Grade 3 and but audible only, or quoting 4737 its why they specify that the installer must be accredited, its like heres something to make the client think we know what we are talking about, but you're the expert you tell us how it should be. Normally I quote exactly what they specify and then when I get the tender and get in front of the client I change it for what they need. I have several architects that specify us as their preferred specialist because we dont make them look like ducks
  3. But still no M.C's?
  4. yeah I didnt read it properly I get bored with long posts
  5. if you cant you can wire two doors in series on the same circuit, you shouldnt put two motion detectors on the same zone but door contacts are fair game. I would never use a motion detector as final exit though
  6. The "Report Fail "is not the reason for the alarm activating, that's just telling you that it was unable to communicate. Its a DIY panel so not many here will be familiar with the panel but I am sure that it has a log(memory) get the user manual out and work out how to read the log that will tell you what triggered the zone then come back here when you still dont know the cause. When was the last time you changed the main battery?
  7. Im thinking of putting my non contract charges up to £250, the problem with £120 is its still cheap enough for people to actually say yes. We rather people just take out a contract than call us out for one off jobs that are quite often more trouble than they are worth. When you get there they are never as easy as they explained over the phone.
  8. It will deter american burglars
  9. Ive been told mine work better than the originals
  10. Or the battery was fooked it should have been replaced 9 years ago
  11. NVM failure would not make the keypad blank and unresponsive, cable to keypad or keypad is fooked (technical term)
  12. I was joking

  14. Yeah that looks like it will definately work with a Honeywell panel
  15. Ill let Santa be the judge of that
  16. Never heard of them?
  17. I dont have any customers that keep pets like that, how the lower class engineers live eh

  19. one way wireless and two way coms are not the same thing, it wasnt graded when the rep came to see me but even so it is tat
  20. Really? AI CCTV is cheaper than you think and its getting cheaper all the time the tech is in the basic kit now for some brands. Its a security forum, I have trouble understanding what some of the northerners are saying. I had the Ajax rep in the kit looked nice enough if you like non compliant one way wireless tat everyone is welcome
  21. I guess that Ring Blink and such like has a market, when they work they do work well, the Ring doorbell I had was useless, even on WiFi. One of my engineers has one and says it great, though when Ive been with him when it rains he get millions of notifications. I have a decent CCTV setup at home that notifies me when someone is in my garden, or at my front door. I dont get false activations when it rains or when there is a cat in the garden, so I am more likely to look at my phone when I do get an activation, unlike my engineer that ignores activations from his Ring most of the time
  22. With CCTV you get exactly what you pay fo, if you expect a decent system with adequate storage, to be professional installed neatly, then expect to pay. We wouldn't retail a recorder and two cameras for £325.00 let alone a complete installed system, well not unless you are happy to have old new stock.
  23. LOL "an SI mom says she feel violated after a man infiltrated her ring"
  24. I guessed it probably was, but because the poster said it was a virgin problem I was slightly worried as I have quite a lot of customers on virgin
