  1. They metered them from the panel, its not a good idea to keep undoing screws it only makes the tamper switches work loose. You can tell from the resistance on the tamper circuit if its on its way out. Anyway the service contract is not just about coming and checking that everything works as it should be. The contract covers you 24/7 in case you have a fault, like say a bellbox going off that you cant stop for example. Pyronix bellbox's are well know for plastic flexing causing tamper faults, the heat up in sunlight and expand. My advice would be find another co and get the box changed for anything other than a Pyronix box
  2. Same panel rebadged The rules of this forum do not allow links to engineering manuals
  3. did you try Racall Countess or DA monitor 6 manuals?
  4. I wondered if it was Ive only ever played with the accords 4110 wasnt that popular iirc

  6. You've jinxed it now
  7. I was thinking the same, it takes but a few secs for HKC panels
  8. Hi Neil it worked for me just now, it may be that you are not a trade member the downloading permissions are different, for non trade. I also remember there is a thing on how many posts you have made before you can do stuff like PM another member, so it maybe that. The minimum is 5 posts
  9. All these big companies are the same Scottish Power, AO, Virgin Media, in fact most telecom companies. I always try to use a smaller reputable company, I look for accreditation and then check out the accreditation too just to be sure I have a come back. (Check-A Trade is not an accreditation). My advice would be to look for a smaller company you will get someone who cares about their reputation as long as you dont go for the cheapest you can find.
  10. You really should be rotating you van stock more often
  11. That panel is at least 20 years old, they stopped making them in 2000. I know that its not very green but these panels where never that good when they where new. With no idea of the history of the system or if it works or not, my advice would be to replace it with something newer, albeit if you do it yourself or get a professional in. Its a hard wired system and so all the cables are in place, unless they have been cut or damaged I would start by metering those if theyre okay then just update the lot, no point in having something if its going to be unreliable a annoy your neighbours
  12. Apparently dogs taste a bit like chicken
  13. Agreed, I know hundreds of people who work in this industry, including many many business owners, all of them started by working for someone as a trainee.
  14. Why ? Just bin it and by a new bell. surely its cheaper than spending hours fking around with an old bit of tat thats older than the contents of the property your protecting
  15. Cieska are you working in this industry ATM if not are you employed. Are you over 25? Where your are based would you be willing able to move if the right job came up? What would you prefer installation or service ?
  16. This is absolutely right, dont take the brokers word for anything they are selling the risk on and will say anything to get your dollar
  17. I never really thought PACOM panels were all that, they just look and feel really cheap. We have played with a few in ex banks even arming/disarming them is a bit of a vote of no confidence It just means that jeff cant see it or comment LOL
  18. With respect Imran he is right, one of my customers insurance company refused to pay out on a burglary because he did not part set his alarm. He had his mother in law staying in one of the ground floor bedrooms for a week at the time it happened. I printed off a months worth of log to prove he had been setting it up until that week, it didn't do any good. If an insurance company can find a good excuse not to pay out they will. Of course the insurance was based on him setting the alarm and part setting the alarm,(he was aware of this requirement) he had a lot of expensive artwork, the burglars nicked his laptop and his BMW his keys were in the kitchen which was their point of entry. If your insurance is based on specific requirements such as an alarm check the small print.
  19. I see ..... its like that is it?
  20. Yeah nobody like Audi's Stuart would say Scanny is his fav Others are Texe fans Others Like Pyronix Personally I prefer Gin
  21. Wont that default it though?
  22. I wouldnt trust any co that gives away free cloud monitoring, if theyre getting nothing for something, they are less in a hurry to fix it when it goes wrong. Which probably explains why most of the free ones that were frequently going down now charge, and go down less frequently.
  23. You've been burgled you are a higher risk, insurance companies want to sell insurance and not pay out, otherwise there is no point in selling insurance
  24. Your insurance company is looking for some assurance that your alarm will do its job in the event of another burglary, and if it doesn t that they have some recourse, ie the alarm companies efficacy insurance. So when they ask for alarm maintenance contract what they mean is they expect you to have a real alarm system, not something that came from Amazon and might alert you if you have another burglary. The Nest system is not compliant to any of the required british standards, its not graded. Even if you found some back street electrician that would offer a service contract, its unlikely that your insurer would pay out in the event of another successful burglary.
