Alarm System Advice for Newbie
We are still using Milestone at our top end and we have started to use Dahua at our bottom end, though we are still importing some CCTV from Latvia, the US, and China, but not so much nowadays its a pain sending the stuff back.

Swerve aliexpress Hikvision, none of it is Hik its a poor copy of the Hik Codec. You would be far better off buying the DIY version of Hikvision (Think its called HiVision) at least you will get a quality product. Trust me I buy a lot from China its taken me quite a while several years of visiting factories to find decent suppliers 95% of them are rubbish.

The end of smart home?
Thats alright because I didnt get you a present

The end of smart home?
Lazy is what smart is all about, presence detection saves you walking to the light switch. Not having to get up to close my curtains switch the lights or tv on is useful and smart. My curtains are on a timer, but the tv and lights wouldnt switch on without my presence, but they wont switch on just because of my presence either.

Alarm System Advice for Newbie
The bellbox can be powered but still wireless to the panel, most wireless systems can do this. The visonic Powermax has wiring for an external sounder as does the HKC Quantum, not sure about the Enforcer, Scantronic Ion, or the Texecom. But I guess they would all be the same

Anti-Intrusion system for remote location
I like to know the facts, and at the moment most of the facts worry me.The only good thing I can foresee with a Brexit no deal is that house prices are likely to fall which may give my kids a chance to get on the property ladder. However, if the £ drops too then the only people buying property in the UK will be the Russians and Chinese.

Anti-Intrusion system for remote location
Smoke cloak is good, but it should be fitted professionally. You cant use pepper spray or electrocute people thats illegal. Smart water if you want to catch who did it. Masterblaster if you want to make em crap themselves. A decent monitored alarm system is probably best

Alarm System Advice for Newbie
Bizarrely we had a takeover recently where the customer was told by the Police that they were removing Police response from the company that they were with for telling people exactly that. The Police had contacted SSAIB and everything apparently. I personally would not rely on self monitoring, the amount of times a day I miss calls because I have left my phone in my car, office, workshop, store room. If I am in a meeting my phone is off, there are plenty of places I go where I have no signal. Much better to have a monitoring station dealing with my alarm problems

And I connect mine to an ARC and the app is a free add-on, whereas the app is the selling point for you.

Alarm System Advice for Newbie
But you can use it as GSM only though and only pay for gsm
-
Alarm System Advice for Newbie
of course, but it costs twice as much as Wifi alone or GSM alone and so if you dont need dual path, and the Wifi drops out alot, and you cant be assed to fit a lan card and run a network, just fit GSM on it own

Alarm System Advice for Newbie
Yeah been using it a while now, it drops out still but you can adjust the timer so it reports less dropouts

It depends who you ask. My oppinion would be that most people install it because its easy and cheap in comparison to pro stuff

ADT closed protocol - help!!!
Hi Hannah What fire panel is it? What sort of size system are we talking about? If its only a small system then its not a big problem until you need parts for it, and there are still one or two suppliers that supply closed protocol detectors etc depending on the brand. Bigger systems are more of a problem, we had a leisure centre with a closed protocol system that was a real pain. We were glad to lose that one when it came around for tender.

Police cant stop criminals?
I watched the videos of these fooking oxygen thieves getting knocked off their peds a few days ago and it gave me a warm feeling inside. Honestly more far entertaining than watching Harry Rednap with crabs on his nuts in I'm a celebratory. It makes a change to see the Police actually catching these fookers

Optima XM not charging battery - fit aux battery?
The charging circuit gets knackered when you dont replace the battery when its due. I would not recommend trying to add another charger, not unless you have a good sprinkler system for when it all catch's fire. If you really really want to stick with an old panel they do sometimes come up on ebay for two or three times what theyre worth.
