    Trade, really? I can see why he was arsey but I didn't realise. It was a genuine question I asked him but his reaction was off the scale.. I can't deal with that kind of person..

    I don't for 1 minute believe that a site with that many devices on will not be under a contract so why don't you ask the maintainer?

    But I bet it did actually work which is more than you can guarantee for wireless.

    Oh, that doesn't sound great. We had a new service manager when I was at Kings, he came from BT and to be fair made loads of changes, really made his mark and I felt he changed a lot of the way Kings operated (from a service perspective) for the better. Obviously he got the bullet.

    Exactly the same? Have you got a spare 232 on the C4 - can you try using this instead of the one yr using now?

    Do you get exactly the same problem with both ways of connecting?

    Are the 2 bits of kit connected by 232 on the same phase?

    Optical isolator - as it says on the tin.. Can you reconfigure the 232 port on C4 to do something else (doesn't matter what) to prove it works properly? Might be putting out ***** and killing the panel?

    Any recent C4 firmware updates been applied? Try updating panel firmware? Do you have a ground between C4 and panel on 232? Does it still do it when you physically disconnect C4 and set from keypad?

    Have you defaulted it? Bit contradictory post too.. Does is fault when setting from the keypad? Does is fault when setting via C4?

    We use an A5 log book which has NCR handover cert and ROC in the back so one left on site and one back to office. There is a separate A4 handover checklist which is returned to office. I'm wondering if we can also do a table type page for as fitted in NCR as well?

    We have 4 or 5 of the new smaller boards, all without issues.

    Fused Spurs

    We have 2 or 3 electricians who we work with and they will always put the spurs in for us and test. I actively use the fact we do not install the spurs (as we're not qualified and/or more importantly competent ) and those other firms just chucking in spurs are probably breaking the law. Those non-electricians who install spurs - do you test the work you've done and do the paperwork etc? Thought not.

    Using the same kit by the sounds of it, we are just over £100 dearer and you'd need an electrician to install the spur on top of that and then there's VAT. It's a very good price (depending where you are in the UK and even more if that price includes VAT) as long as they install it properly.
