  1. You can damage a new type CQR PA if you remove the lid while triggered
  2. I found these hush buttons to be a clever way of doing flats. If your flat is activated only your flat sounds for a period of time, you can Hush your own alarm about 3 times before a full evac is triggered. If you clear the smoke from the room within the hush button period all will reset avoiding an evac. Communal areas would as default trigger a full evac on the systems I fitted but if necessary these could be RoR detectors or controlled with C&E, all down to the RA etc.
  3. I only got to replace one of them unfortunately, I saved it for a mate that was moving house. Waste to throw it really.
  4. I don't know if they released information of how many Hik DVR's were used as Bitminers, when it happened a few years ago. As I say there's so many doing bitmining now it's less profitable.
  5. Could be worse, this happened to a few of our Premiers within a few days of each other. I arranged to get replacement SMPS, all customers got send a quote to replace the controls as "we don't replace PSU's in controls". Unhappy customers where charged for 2 hours plus a panel, about 15 months after installation.
  6. FItted systems with C-Tec Hush Buttons for this scenario, seem to work well. You end up with a mix of conventional and analogue on the same system tho.
  7. Times out if everything is clear I think, would have to check the manual.
  8. Triggering the bells clear the hold off mode?
  9. Well, makes sense now that bitmining is less profitable... Impressive what can be done with the computing power of 150k DVR's.
  10. http://securityaffairs.co/wordpress/51640/cyber-crime/tbps-ddos-attack.html
  11. TS800 you have to be further in the menu structure to stop a tamper in engineers.
  12. The outputs are driven by transistors.
  13. Them gutter bushes work great for normal gutters but from the OP I imagine this is a large lead channel between two roofs. I was thinking thin galv wire mesh rolled into a tube shape?
  14. I wouldn't want it triggering an intruder alarm I would want something separate. There are flood detectors available that maybe able to work for your application. Maybe money would be better spent on the roof? Some way of stopping the leaves and gunk getting in the channel in the first place?
  15. A latch line is a way of having multiple devices of the same type on one zone. The first to active will be indicated when the system is unset, then this clears upon arming. If you don't require the latch line, don't use it the device will work fine.
  16. Wouldn't trust my ISP either...
  17. That's not the point tho, everything internet facing is potentially vulnerable. Sysadmins are paid to create layers and keep one step ahead with patches. If you run your own server only you/your trusted people have the admin access. Any company not just Hik can easily make it so they could access any of there kit in the world that's on the web and use that data, it's all about if you trust that company.
  18. One of the reasons I wouldn't touch Hik.
  19. If that's Ohm's they're either all mounted adjacent the panel on one foot of cable or you didn't disconnect them from the panel before testing?
  20. Premier has a Foyer option just for this type of thing.
  21. Yes and Yes, I would just replace it. Lucky if you get 5 year out of them.
  22. The system will get warm near the transformer and regulator (left side) but it's possible the battery is faulty or the system is overloaded. You would have to test this out with a meter. Yep you can remove dialler starting at the panel end first.
  23. ...or whatever is rolling about in your van; chewing gum, sticky pads, insulation tape, penny washers all seem to be appropriate methods, if stuff I have ripped out is anything to go by.
  24. Maybe no longer living in Bristol? Anyway I agree, get it serviced and operational or get it decommissioned. Leaving it alone is likely to cause you grief, usually at an inconvenient time.
