  1. DPA domestic exemption rules have changed, you need to be registered with the DPA to store any images not on your property.
  2. Obviously a RA would be done to assess the protection required but this will be balanced against cost. That is if you are talking about professionally installed systems. There not an intruder until they enter the premises. Possibly, however there are chances of external incidents causing false alarms. Bird strikes, window cleaners, post(wo)men, pets jumping at doors/windows, all this and more would need to be assessed in the RA. Any detection of this type would need to be setup correctly as well this takes time, so therefore perimeter protection would be a lot more costly too. Again, all down to risk and the customer. The layout of the property is also something to consider. This would be a popular option on a low risk property. Much better to have the downstairs armed than the customer feel "trapped" and not used the system at night. Probably, again this would need an RA to determine. With having animals you would have to install perimeter protection in some parts of the property anyway. Ideally, I would install perimeter protection in addition to PIR's. If they get in somehow they could move around freely if you have not sensors in the rooms. Another thing to consider is monitored systems, they will need two detector types in an area to trigger the police. Therefore, perimeter protection only would be useless in this instance.
  3. TAP messaging isn't to be relied upon for signalling.
  4. One Way => The detection device blasts it's message out several times and hopes it is received by the panel. Two Way => The detection device and the control panel can communicate and receive messages in both directions, acknowledging them.
  5. Passengers always complain about my passengers footwell. I just say that's where the **** goes, they soon stop complaining.
  6. That's like my van without the dead Optima and C type bellbox in the footwell...
  7. That's what I said. I would say QXSX is on the right lines, but again you need to be careful when copying configuration over between different versions. Download and save a copy, then connect and change version. Wintex changes how the data is stored on the panels memory in the backend.
  8. Hi This is a UK based forum so it is unlikely anyone will have knowledge of that system. Your more than welcome to ask any questions.
  9. I am confused how it is a new Elite but from 2002? Are you upgrading a Pre-Elite to an Elite? You have to be careful if you are moving the programming between different firmware/panel versions.
  10. Stick around and you'll be plumbing and welding like a pro.
  11. Possibly but think about the labour saving of using existing infra. I don't understand what you mean about a third core tho?
  12. I see little time difference in wiring two cores or four cores TBH. Doubt detectors will be asked to do that many statuses. EOL will not disappear overnight. I think IP could be another option in the future.
  13. Exactly, what I was thinking. Visonic make all sorts in 868 that should work, all Powercode I believe.
  14. I agree, this is a case that the ICO have been watching closely. They are currently working with the MoJ on how this is to effect UK law, but no update has been given AFAIK.
  15. You'll need to drive a DP relay from the lock output, then send a voltage to your lock from one side and a clean NC pair to your alarm zone. It's not as simple as linking them together you will blow something.
  16. I wouldn't have it set to disarm the system! If it was Switch2 or better still Net2 you could integrate it into Texecom that would be more secure. The Compact readers they are basic so having it disarm and unlock everything is a bad idea IMO. However, in theory yes you can drive a relay from the lock output of the reader.

  18. Someone's put a swimming pool in the way...
  19. I think you will find there are outstanding changes as of December last year. ICO have updated there website to reflect these changes.
  20. That is not how the ICO interpret it, since the exemption changes last year.
  21. It doesn't work like that in real life scenario. Customers use the wrong code (bank code/ work code/ home code/ whatever...) panic and then walk around the premises sending confirmed alarms. No amount of customer training or instruction will help some users, there not interested. Prox tags have definitely helped to reduce FA's, most issues I get on the phone are from customers that still have codes.
