No legislation it all depends on your companies T&C's that the customer is signed up to. I would agree that best to give them the options of charge to factory default the system for the outgoing or they can send you the panel. Also some companies contract of employment are worded so you cannot poach existing customers, maybe worth looking into that.

Not sure what you mean by "Class 2", I certainly don't think linking the bell tamper out is a good idea. This is the only protection from attack the external components have. As above link the bell and strobe terminals together at the bell, if you don't wish to use extra features like engineer H/O etc. Better still rewire it, if it's old four core it could have been in for years and may fail in the near future. Once a core goes down your rewiring it anyway.

That's a blow, comparing a Quantum to cheap Chinese stuff. While I would agree you could replace blown capacitors yourself, I doubt this is the case here. Also security kit is generally classed as non-user serviceable, plus not many alarm engineers would be capable of a repair like that. The best protocol here would be to send it back or replace. I would be interested if the OP found what the issues was in the end.

There's lots of Grade 2 specified kit, I would suggest a search engine. However, just because you install Grade 2 kit this doesn't classify a Grade 2 system.

I have a Draytek at home. Very pleased with it, only small gripe is the WLAN signal distance is a bit shorter than my previous Netgear. In fairness to Netgear the Superhub has lots of features stripped out by VM firmware. Best to stick Superhub's into "Modem mode" then run your own router.

Typical of the CCTV industry unfortunately. WINE only works as a compatibility layer so will be fine for some windows programs but probably not this task. You haven't said what file format they are or what Linux your running.

Well if you want the most important tool that would be the terminal screwdriver you can't do much without one. As for favourite that would be difficult to choose but I suppose cable rods. The feeling of pride from installing cables neatly in walls and cavities makes up for some of the **** I put up with.
