There is something wrong with the bell tamper circuit, so the wiring needs testing with a meter or the bell needs testing and maybe replacing. As it doesn't seem intermittent it should be relatively easy for someone knowledgable to find and repair.

Thanks for your additional comment a year later. Lets just say the remark wasn't solely about the plug top... A plug top could actually conform, provided it was secured from accidental disconnection. Also who knows what qualifications, competence or other help the non-trade that post here have. It's in the DIY section, they may want to wire it in wet string via a bathroom.... Being trade we explain how it should be, any one with basic DIY skills can throw wireless kit on the wall wrong.

Do what you did in reverse and hope it works. Putting a weight on the back tamper is bound to cause issues. If you have to DIY it that way you should mount them to a scrap sheet of timber back as the were. Really best option is above, remove, de-commision, have your work done, reinstall, re-commision.

We get regular questions about it. The last one thought the installer was trying to rip them off by recommending an upgrade... If they don't have them serviced regularly the system probably isn't much use just a liability anyway.

I agree, comms side is confusing for people not in the trade. We spoke about this recently in trade. Using no words related to ARC's or signalling. But even "proper" signalling have confusing grades. What use is ATS G2 if complete failure is 25 hour response, for example. Nope. All registered through Texecom Cloud now which needs an installer account. Most places like this would need approved installer for the system to be worth anything. I can't imagine an insurer would touch it. The majority of electricians and IT work I have had the pleasure to deal with has been well below par. That's not to say yours will be, just you can't learn how to install a system from looking at manuals.

Possibly with a local relay server and beta like software but completely unreliable transmission method. GSM-Com your best DIY option for private reporting.

Smartcom is registered trade installers only through the Cloud platform. ComIP doesn't need registration if you only need Wintex.

Why would you need to import codes if the access is setting it. Paxton have installation notes about how to do this integration to standard with additional readers and ET. Texecom is my preferred kit, I have no major issues and it fits the way I work. Manufacturer of the kit is not really relevant for a one off job and at commercial end they all do similar. Every installer fits what suits them. With so many users I would say it's going to be a full time job managing the place, so I would built the system around that issue first.

DIY would be ungraded anyway, even if you aspire to meet the standards. You can integrate Net2 into most intruder systems, to suit whatever you want if you don't like rollcall then an arming station. Makes the panel manufacturer irrelevant. Alternatively, flip it the other way and have the intruder control your access but would be less flexible as an access system.

As above I wasn't referring to a fault with your consumer unit. Systems are not suppose to trigger outside when you remove the power! Yes you should be fine reusing the wiring if there is no fault with it.

Needs a new external sounder from what you say. As an aside your breaker tripping shouldn't trigger the siren, that indicates another unrelated fault. Some you can replace the battery pack but it's not worth the effort unless it's fairly new, the plastics fatigue and the Great British weather gets to them. Ladders, ear defenders and be careful not to electrocute yourself on the strobe flash if DIY.

Just checking for stable voltage is only half of it, you need to make sure the panel can charge the battery at a decent enough rate. Measuring the current in and out of the battery with mains on and off.

Mobile signals can be jammed and IP could still have downtime or an attack. Both the path or the manufacturer are irrelevant, the only way you know if a signal will be received is if it polls (uses/tests) the path regularly.

Maybe keep the panel but replace the dialler for proper signalling on pins or a GSM thing but it's just not cost effective in the long run compared with upgrading now.

TL;DR - Yes upgrade system. To expand because I am sure that's why you are here... The panel is obsolete so no parts are available. As an aside, I am surprised your keypad is still functional, most I see now you can hardly read the screen or press the code in with ease. Vo-Comm uses PSTN, you will not have this. The new router will probably have an ATA as you say but you will likely get issues with using this and it be unreliable, the same reason most fax machines are in the bin. Virgin just want you to switch and deal with the issue later, but in fairness all newly designed systems should either be radio i.e. SIM card or IP i.e WiFi/Ethernet as options, be that private reporting or monitoring. Even if you did it try connecting to the ATA and you were fortunate enough to have it work somewhat reliably, it would only take some router upgrade or power outage and it may stop working. You will be responsible for making sure the ATA works and has line voltage so the Vo-Comm can dial, your PSTN provider currently do that -- with ATA if the router is powered off or crashes; then no line/no message. These types of private reporting are not too reliable, so you may not care about it only working some of the time, there is no polling so who knows if it will work when you need anyway.
