  1. The installation company and their procedures all sound perfectly reasonable. Vibration devices need to be calibrated if any changes are made to the mountings or frame. If you are paying a considerable amount more because of the companies distance away (unusual they would only normally charge for on site time); find a closer company but they will have similar procedures. I don't know Pryonix kit too well but most manufacturers with an app require an registered installer account and annual maintenance agreement to keep it active.
  2. Diagnose and repair the tamper fault?
  3. I've had a couple of those, only the entry door was connected properly.
  4. I have known it to be used as leverage to lower the asking price. It sounds like unmaintained skip fodder TBH.
  5. Those probably don't have a license, Technistore does... it's the main part of business like I said above. Technistore is included by the manufacturers, not made by them for complying.
  6. Congratulations for downloading software without license...
  7. It's proprietary, this software is one of the main assets to the company; unlike other product manufacturers you mention. Use another option or ask the ARC to set it up while your on the phone. If you have an issue with this being incorrect as a company, include it as part of RMV procedures you'll have majority sorted in 6 months.
  8. No alarm component I know has 4x C batteries, that is most likely a doorbell.
  9. Removing the hold off voltage should trigger the bell so best to replace the whole unit.
  10. Yes, and yes as a temporary fix. It's down to if there will be further damage to the wiring in the near future. Something could be crushed or being chewed at for example. Also consider that you need 5 cores minimum, so you will have to cross check when pairing your cores. If it's the wiring and the bell and as important it's battery are in good working condition; there is no need to replace. When I say cross checking multiple pairs but also open circuit between everything too.
  11. So? AG6 DIY and sparkie favourite... junk but available and popular. Everyone will have their own favourite panel and bell. If you have a sample size of 1 and it works for 10 years what's the issue...
  12. Linking the TR to 0v will disable the bell tamper loop (on most panels) to rule out the panel being an issue, which is unlikely but possible. Not too keen on Deltabell. Any "wired SAB external sounder" should do, many manufacturers from CQR, Honeywell, Texecom, Pyronix. Scantronic/Eaton have one which is most likely to have wiring diagram for 9853 if you need. They may come as two pieces lid and backplate, companies would have the lid screen printed in bulk so they often come separate. Strobe flash is high voltage don't go poking it. Electrocution and working at height not a good combination.
  13. There is something wrong with the bell tamper circuit, so the wiring needs testing with a meter or the bell needs testing and maybe replacing. As it doesn't seem intermittent it should be relatively easy for someone knowledgable to find and repair.
  14. My percentages where facts not statistics, where is the source for this and how are they collated... No-one is going to admit to being a professional burglar, even serial burglars know how to play the game so it looks unmeditated to do less time. Saying a GSM speech dialler is the "same signals" as a Dualcom unit is just bull! Your saying your talking from experience, what experience; compared to the rest of the trade members in the forum?
  15. What use is a security product that works 99% of the time in general use, but 0% of the time if attacked or jammed. I suppose they still fit doors with cheap euro cylinders so there is a market for rubbish...
  16. Thanks for your additional comment a year later. Lets just say the remark wasn't solely about the plug top... A plug top could actually conform, provided it was secured from accidental disconnection. Also who knows what qualifications, competence or other help the non-trade that post here have. It's in the DIY section, they may want to wire it in wet string via a bathroom.... Being trade we explain how it should be, any one with basic DIY skills can throw wireless kit on the wall wrong.
  17. It will probably be fine, but they recommend to be installed within 15 months of manufacturer.
  18. As far as I am aware they are still Year Month Day Batch, yes
  19. Do what you did in reverse and hope it works. Putting a weight on the back tamper is bound to cause issues. If you have to DIY it that way you should mount them to a scrap sheet of timber back as the were. Really best option is above, remove, de-commision, have your work done, reinstall, re-commision.
  20. We get regular questions about it. The last one thought the installer was trying to rip them off by recommending an upgrade... If they don't have them serviced regularly the system probably isn't much use just a liability anyway.
  21. I agree, comms side is confusing for people not in the trade. We spoke about this recently in trade. This is why I have purposely been referring to these types of communication as "private reporting" here. IMO It is a better term to describe, non polled self hosted messaging. Using no words related to ARC's or signalling. But even "proper" signalling have confusing grades. What use is ATS G2 if complete failure is 25 hour response, for example. I don't think the insurance understand half the time either. As for PSTN switch off, the alarm industry has been preparing for this for a decade or more. The topic just keeps rolling on and on, all the kit is ready most have been fitting it or upgrading to it for a long time.
  22. Nope. All registered through Texecom Cloud now which needs an installer account. Most places like this would need approved installer for the system to be worth anything. I can't imagine an insurer would touch it. The majority of electricians and IT work I have had the pleasure to deal with has been well below par. That's not to say yours will be, just you can't learn how to install a system from looking at manuals.
  23. Possibly with a local relay server and beta like software but completely unreliable transmission method. GSM-Com your best DIY option for private reporting.
  24. Smartcom is registered trade installers only through the Cloud platform. ComIP doesn't need registration if you only need Wintex.
  25. Why would you need to import codes if the access is setting it. Paxton have installation notes about how to do this integration to standard with additional readers and ET. Texecom is my preferred kit, I have no major issues and it fits the way I work. Manufacturer of the kit is not really relevant for a one off job and at commercial end they all do similar. Every installer fits what suits them. With so many users I would say it's going to be a full time job managing the place, so I would built the system around that issue first.
