  1. Planning permission is only an issue with company logo tho, DIY unlikely to have that. It's not something all local authority are looking for either.
  2. Agreed but worth a shot first if you haven't moved the rooms about too much
  3. There is no point in doing this. I am not a fan of the backlit bellbox they look pants and just provide unnecessary light pollution. Even so, doing what you suggest will just take away the point of the strobe effect catching peoples vision. The backlight on the Ody X is just a small PCB in the middle lid cover with two leads you just grab the voltage from wherever you want. If your adamant you want some control over your backlight wire the Red into +ve and join the black to a spare wire then control it however you want from a panel output. Texe has hundreds of output options. Alarm type output is any generic Alarm, this would give people an indication from outside if the Alarm had finished activating and then re-armed. The system shouldn't be giving this information to people outside the property.
  4. Your still going to need it servicing even if you don't have monitoring. The batteries will need replacing for a start. If ADT won't do maintenance only for whatever reason, it would be a good idea to find an installer that works with Visonic to take it over. Defaulting without knowing what your doing is asking for trouble, your going to have no alarm system. We also don't provide defaulting information or manuals here.
  5. If it's a 9851 it's likely to have a fair few devices on it, maybe some wireless. Have you seen any RFX modules (A5 sized white boxes)? I would say if it been well maintained chances are the previous owner will have used it and likely to be setup for (bed) B set of some description. You should consider enquiring about keeping an annual maintenance going with the installer.
  6. You maybe lucky and it's just a couple of sealed lead acid batteries of the same voltage and dimensions that you need to replace, for now.
  7. Your unlikely able to fix it yourself. The comms module will need disabling in the engineers menu. You either need to get ADT to remove it or find an engineer that works on Visonic to remove it. Bear in mind support for ADT Visonic maybe limited when it comes to parts, ADT models are not compatible with standard Visonic if you need replacements.
  8. I think they aim for bigger fish with less paperwork.
  9. There wouldn't be anything stopping you insuring something twice no, insurance will just take your money like they do. I mean you can be insured for a vehicle your not entitled to drive, until you have a bump and they refuse to pay saying your not insured. That doesn't make it allowed by the insurance company, they don't want to be in a situation where there is an argument between second parties who sorts out the first party, so there will be a caveat for this. As I say that's how it was explained to me by a broker.
  10. Some policies allow you TPO on other vehicles but this is different. There aren't two vehicles to have permission for TPO on the other.
  11. Trade vehicle insurance works differently it's covered under "road risk" which means they are covered for vehicles in there possession, it's like a temporary flexible policy. It's difficult to get road risk only as people where faking being in the automotive trade for it, so they normally ask for combined trade insurance (road risk + business) Hire companies have a similar scheme.
  12. This is not what I was told by an insurance broker. It becomes an issue when a third party comes to claim against you as to which insurance company is liable, even if you consider the policies purposes don't overlap.
  13. I suppose it's possible that your employer could go bandit and say you where not given permission to drive the vehicle therefore you would be liable unless you have some document stating otherwise. MOT, vehicle condition and vehicle tax I would say are drivers responsibility to make sure they are in order, insurance is more a split issue as you wouldn't be able to check without the policy documents which are likely for the fleet. Vehicle would technically be insured twice which isn't allowed AFAIK
  14. There is also another thread more on your specific topic over in the trade forums, we discussed this situation. As an employee it would be the companies responsibility (director) to make sure your company vehicle is insured etc. It would be upto the T&Cs of the insurance company which you wouldn't know about being an employee. Valid point about PL insurance tho.
  15. Being NSI Gold goes way beyond how tidy the wiring is in the panel. that's likely down to one engineer and their untidy workmanship. There is a whole company, employees. training, testing, maintenance and audit trail behind that job.
  16. Do you need it, can it not be disabled, if your using the terminals? It's been ages since I seen one. Repurposing a reed from something else maybe hit and miss they are fragile.

  18. Any modules after 2014 where fine to take straight of a circuit >32A circuit as per the instructions. https://www.mkelectric.com/Documents/English/EN%20MK%20Installation%20Manuals/Wiring%20Devices/Logic%20Plus/50078098A%20-%20MK%20USB%20Charger%20Installation%20Manual.pdf Another thing to note all these devices with USB's built in have a 2 year warranty, even for MK. Whereas other standard outlets are either 10 year or limited lifetime.
  19. No the Euro modules
  20. Pretty sure they are SCB's on that age Bentley. Maybe even positive trigger? I would be checking the panel and it's outputs respond correctly to an alarm activation with a meter before even considering the ladders.
  21. They are a solid built thing and give very little trouble, that's why relatively there are still a good few Bentley panels about. Still not helpful if you never have it serviced and it fails to operate in a break in.
  22. It's very old and obsolete, finding someone that would support it is unlikely. It's probably older than a lot of peoples engineering staff. Feel free to ask away, if you have some specific questions.
  23. Fully agree with above, you do have to consider the asymptomatic problem too, but it may lower the risk. I could see a change in the design of some systems, maybe considering REX PIRs and more contact free interactions with all devices used by multiple people.
  24. Sheffield ANPR Cameras accessible via IP with no password. https://www.theregister.co.uk/2020/04/28/anpr_sheffield_council/ Lawyers are passing it of as user error be an interesting watch to see how that case goes.
  25. From what I gathered they released early sample modules that didn't conform to BS only IEC, they had to be supplied from a 3A FCU. The current models conform to all standards required and you can wire them straight from the circuit with a B or C upto 32A
