  1. Most systems have options prox tags or an app, you don't need to have the keypad on show just on the entry route. It's possible to have a setup where it would be used only for programming or with UDL maybe none at all. They could also interface into whatever you want if within reason if you know what your doing, it just needs engineering its not plug and play like consumer pitched tat. The Texecom range of keypads are widely considered very good in aesthetics there's a massive range of them too, colours and finishes. Keypads are still a thing for the same reason remote controls are still a thing, they do there job efficiently and cost effectively with no compatibility issues. I can't see a pretty touch screen being any more useful, ideally interactions with these systems are minimal and programmed in a way to be simple for that customer. Smart is just a buzz word to push tat, I have yet to see any of these smart labelled things do anything "smart" for the user. As for the manufacturers they make there money tracking everything you do, very smart marketing and a different industry altogether... Security installers fit kit designed to the UK standards, doubt any of that "smart" stuff your thinking of could pass these or would hold up in a break in. I can't agree with your ugly, dumb and expensive comments either there's so much kit out there how could you have seen it all fitted professionally.
  2. Why not run your own cables and get a small decent approved company to fit some decent kit? Not saying all companies would all be up for that or that they may want some disclaimer about existing cabling faults, but worth asking. Fitted a few DSC in the past for an integration job, specced by a HA company.... Uses an interface with a serial bus so the HA can see all the devices live, the rest was all done on the HA side. It was just weird foreign tat IMO nothing special. All these North American panels are just not designed for the UK market, they may work as an alarm but not conform and support will be limited from manufacturers and installers. JW listed most of the usual UK market panels, Galaxy Texecom Eaton etc. Have you actually decided if your DIYing or not because that's the first step really. Talking manufacturers is useless if your still thinking your getting someone in.
  3. It's just some zone state detecting tat, sure I have seen other things do this cheaper maybe some raspberry Pi hack on thing. There's no reason you can't have a panel with enough outputs on zone mimic either.
  4. I would agree with PJ the first question ask is if the system specificly requires monitoring for insurance or if it's just for keyholder only. There are no regs for sharing equipment so difficult to make both systems conform to each others. When it comes to cost it's a life safety system so if the RA says the fire needs comms then I wouldn't see sharing the intruder being an option to offer at all. Battery standby
  5. They are for different markets there won't be an exact equivalent
  6. Hardware manufacturer recommendations are never straight forward, everyone uses different kit. I'd think most top end stuff would be capable of integration if you know how to connect it.
  7. It's things like small bits of grit and dirt that wreck the pump tho, adblue or tap water would be different. Something similar to what JW posted would be more suitable they often have a float switch attached to them, they ain't supposed to be permanently fitted tho.
  8. Wouldn't think they would last long for grey water tho?
  9. "Call Alarm Company" is a hint? Installer would need to do this.
  10. Spoiled the fun now, I thought everyone would get a guess.
  11. The spider manifold things are useful but I am still not a fan of plastic. Can recommend trace as above, issue is the supply and would likely be an awkward run if you want to protect all the external pipe work as well
  12. Wouldn't speedfit stuff suffer from fatigue being outside?
  13. Sounds like something is wired wrong or broken to me.
  14. That's only for remote arming apps as part of the system IIRC. Third party connections are not going to conform to relevant EN's.
  15. I still fail to see the point with integration to the point where you allow third party devices to control the intruders arming and disarming, your just crating more surface area to be exploited. Sure I have said this on another thread but what really do you want the home assistant to do with the alarm? Yes it's nice if things can interface with each other for extra functionality but the main goal is security and people forget this.
  16. Don't have any Pre Elite panels they're for the bin if they get ripped out TBH.
  17. I can't see it being supported configuration at all but plausible that the expanders could be "understood" by both panels they wouldn't be "linked" in that sense tho.
  18. Most likely two separate systems. Connecting two via data isn't a thing AFAIK, certainly not supported if somehow that is the case.
  19. Ideally you would have the system serviced annually and as part of that the batteries in all the devices would be replaced as required, I assume there was a reason for cancelling that? ADT Visonic systems use components that run on a different frequency so support for replacement parts would be limited to ADT without buying second hand. While it's possible any engineer maybe able to get you sorted if it's simple or just batteries, but your going to get limited support and may not be able to get the app back online. One thing that may point you in the right direction if you keep pressing the "i" button it should point you towards the faults stopping it from arming.
  20. I thought you where better than that?
  21. Does look like the safety of the shed now to be fair...?
  22. Been a while and only played with one but don't you use the last 4 digits of the account number on the panel with dial capture? It may well be just something not setup on CSL end tho
  23. Not saying it wasn't good well built kit and worked well, that doesn't take away it was overpriced that was confirmed to me by an ex-DM guy.
