  1. That is the screen displayed when a keypad has power but no data.
  2. As above you can try a new battery and power cycle it. However, if you don't test the controls and there is a fault it will wreck the battery and become unreliable again
  3. Sounds ridiculous but they make lamps out of all sorts of old tat.
  4. We thought you'd both been taken, for a while.
  5. They lockout when they are not looked after. I would suggest you get someone out to see if can be serviced, new battery and re programmed for your needs. Alarms need regular maintenance to be reliable.
  6. Depends on what your tampering with
  7. In short, the guy that started Texecom sold it to Halma around 2005, he left a year or so after the sale. He was part of Orisec starting up around 2013.
  8. If you know the history of the companies you'll know why they are near to each other. I have no idea about what allegedly happened on twitter tho.
  9. Who said it was a door contact? Opening the device is the obvious solution. I did say most, that said you still have to carry a stupid array of batteries as an engineer, I am not going to list them all.
  10. CR123 is pretty standard for most wireless sensors now.
  11. In another twist to this topic, in the US they are now sharing all footage with US police forces. https://slashdot.org/story/19/08/28/1324211/doorbell-camera-firm-ring-has-partnered-with-400-police-forces-extending-surveillance-reach
  12. The lid isn't on the front room sensor properly. Also if you haven't had it serviced recently you will likely need a control panel battery at least, if the rest is working. Alarms do need regular maintenance.
  13. Eh? Who mentioned fire?
  14. I makes sense that the 8XP should work with them, as I say you wouldn't be able to fill the zones without them. They are known as "International series" if they are 8xx. This is not to confuse with the "Pre-Elite" Premier models which are long discontinued for example Premier 24, 48, 168 etc. I have no idea about support for Premier Elite over there but if they are then it's certainly a much more flexible panel for the extra cost. There maybe some other reason why the 8xx are still popular in SA tho.
  15. Type AC which have been the standard on domestic for years, either FTO or take many times the rating to trip, if you have even the smallest amount of DC circuit leaking back to the device. PV's and EV chargers are becoming more common, but even a poorly made phone charger, USB socket outlets or plug top DC transformer could cause this. Most of the stuff we plug in now a days is AC>DC, gone are the days of the post war copper shortage and a ring of undersized conductors, designed to power two 1 bar heaters...
  16. Everything is down to cost as always. I love to see the end of the RFC and Type A RCBO's as standard. As always it will take someone getting injured to make this become the standard.
  17. Mild percussion maintenance, speak reit posh down thaa.
  18. Why not get a bricky to do your chipping or a plasterer to tile the roof... While some electricians maybe competent at fitting alarms many are not, some of the worst systems I have seen where fitted by electricians. If you knew you wanted the alarm replacing you would have been better getting quotes to do this before buying and replacing the panel. I wouldn't want to fit customer purchased kit as I can provide no warranty on it, you then have issues when it goes faulty. People think they are going to save money by buying the kit themselves but trade don't get it any cheaper, it just limits your options really.
  19. Contacts have limited use for detecting a break in, they are mandatory for making sure the numpties shut all the doors.
  20. If ethernet disconnect it, if wifi change your password, if it's mobile then you will have to disable it in the installers menu as it will not like you taking the SIM card or aerial out live. If any of these are enabled and you disconnect them it's likely to start beeping and reporting a path fault continuously. So not really advised anyway. Really you should seek advise from ADT if your not happy with them get some other professional advise. Bear in mind with it being an ADT system it's got custom firmware and radio frequency so anyone other than ADT would only give you limited support without replacing everything.
  21. Simple don't connect it to the internet or apps in the first place.
  22. I also agree but they are becoming less common. Had a site where they stole the DVR, ARC denied they had any activations. They didn't take the SmartDisc which even tho it was dumped from the rack and kicked around the floor had some decent video evidence and all the log information of alarms and images to the ARC.
  23. Standard panel defaults to 8 minutes bell time but no idea with ADT model it's likely got different default settings with it's custom firmware. Detection devices and bell times would be installer programming only.
  24. VisonicGo works without a subscription AFAIK. but I don't know if that can be setup without accessing the engineers menu.
  25. Either get ADT in or start again with everything.
