  1. Yes There wouldn't be less wires depending on the site and how its installed. Reflection wouldn't be reliable or secure.
  2. If it's looked after some of the older controls where solid. I would guess a couple of tweaks back and forth on the entry timer pot would sort the Logic 4. Tones on the old TS where great, I remember later models having options for classic entry tones too.
  3. It's all relative. Continuing the car analogy... You could have a shiny new alarm for the cost of a dealer service. Also cars worth over 1k wouldn't likely be as old as this Accenta.
  4. Map 6 was like a latching universal zone expander so you could expander one control panel zone into 6 devices.
  5. The service is because it's been a non-maintained system so checks would need to be done, part of this would be to diagnose the fault and get the system operational. Having a service and repair is more cost effective in the long run than someone resetting your PA for the cost of a call out. If your alarm system sounds when isolating the power it clearly shows the system hasn't been serviced in a good while and the battery will be dead. Expect an incoming approved company to recommend a panel upgrade and service contract too.
  6. No, Active IR is line of sight they would need installing where the line of sight would only be blocked by an intruder. I would be installing them to an intruder alarm panel then you can arm and disarm and have somewhere to terminate and diagnose the zones if a fault occurred.
  7. As above really. Seems like the system is locked out either in Tamper or PA. You would need to clear the fault before it will then reset. I would recommend you have someone service the system, replace the batteries, check everything over and reprogram it to your needs.
  8. I am sure pros would just have a crack at it Scannys are pretty basic, if desperate could default and reprogram in 15 minutes. It's normally recommended to down power controls before removing BUS devices.
  9. Please don't repost the same question. Try a power cycle, yes.
  10. Alarms require service, systems are made of parts that need maintenance. Batteries that need replacing regularly, components that need testing for correct operation. It's possible the transformer was blown by the controls or a surge has blown both, battery damaged the charging circuit and endless list of issues that could be wrong. Either way it's simply not worth the effort of sourcing and replacing the transformer on such a basic panel. If you were to try you would have to source second hand and hope for the best. Most likely engineers would skip a working one, so your unlikely to find one.
  11. Can you please not use all caps it makes it difficult to read. If your Accord has never been serviced in that time, the control panel is likely shot and needs replacement.
  12. Likely the cladding is moving with heat expansion. Microwave can only help minimise false alarms if device is fixed to a solid surface.
  13. From what I remember the best you can do is turn down the LS volume. Front door contact is normally a good idea due to this type of thing.
  14. I would argue they can't without the sounders being low current types. It doesn't matter how many outputs a control panel has, the supply can only provide a certain load (this isn't just sounders this is the whole system BTW). A panel could run overloaded for a while before it gives up prematurely. Maybe see what other people suggest.
  15. Far too many question marks to work out where your questions are, but I'll try and help answer... I would say Shutter contact and DT. I don't fit Honeywell controls as standard. I'd use a Texecom external prox reader for this type of thing. Tag on your garage keys, swipe the tag, open the garage and park up, could do similar on the way out too with correct programming. I don't really rate apps myself. When it comes to your bike is it the right solution? Think about having to pull up, find your phone in your leathers, take your gloves off, find the app, disarm, put your phone back etc.. I would say separate system would be better for redundancy This sounds like far too much kit for one panels PSU. Are you definitely looking to DIY? This seems a large project for a your standard DIYer, lots to learn and trip up on along the way.
  16. You would not be able to use standard passive IR, possibly external type (like Redwall's) but from what you say about the movement in the sides it's a bad idea. Passive IR detects changes in temperature moving ideally across or within its beam pattern, movement of the device itself would likely cause an alarm due to this. Mounting any detection device would need to be solid. The Active IR beams I suggest have a transmit and receive which need line of sight. Poles could be mounted or driven into the ground in the corners, beams could be mounted to these in a staggered pattern. Alternatively there are all in one tower units that are designed to be free standing.
  17. 4 hours to repair the system is mandatory requirement for approved systems. This isn't police response time.
  18. A good few times, we are in the trade and are on call 24 hours for this type of thing. Could you get somebody to respond to your system within 4 hours 24/7 365 and repair it? https://www.nsi.org.uk/information-centre/information-for-businesses/police-policy 999 an alarm system in this way is against regulations no matter how much value for money you think it is. Personally I see it no better than a speech dialler, which has no subscription fees and less to go wrong.
  19. Nobody is pointing fingers at anyone, we are just explaining it's limitations and why it is not considered monitoring. So what use is them talking to you? £15p/m for them to let you know you have set your alarm off accidentally? Are you saying you have this type of system without it being serviced and with no bellbox, I honestly don't see the value for money.
  20. I wouldn't call that sort of thing monitoring... Monitoring has polling (well test calls on a digi).
  21. Yep, Active IR beams covering inside the perimeter would be my first thought without seeing the job.
  22. TBH if there is no money in the job, isolation is best for everyone. An unmaintained system is just a neighbour annoyer in the long run.
  23. If I came to this as a job I would be quoting for new controls and bell minimum. The time spent messing about with a probably unmaintained 20+ year old budget panel thats showing signs of ageing is not productive to anyone.
  24. I thought a AG6 was the cheap go to DIY box...?
