  1. The app could be better. Yes, I know. I have it for the iOS including push notifications for SelfMon, but I still have to update the Android app before I release it. I've been busy working on a new lower cost Ethernet module based on the USR-K3 with an integrated ARM processor. The design had a bug in FreeRTOS which was driving me crazy, but I fixed that on Thursday evening, so can continue with the rest of the coding. I have included a direct HTTP interface and it works very well. I'll probably make an alternative firmware available for customers to flash in themselves to gain HTTPS, as licensing the SSL libraries to deliver with the hardware costs £3.5k and that would bump up the cost of the module itself. Here's the prototype so far. This one is RS485, but there's also the option for RS232 and that opens up the possibility of using this with Texecom panels as a cheaper solution to COM-IP.
  2. You can use RSS, but not the Honeywell GX app. You can use my Galaxy Virtualkeypad remote control app (iPhone / Android) with any IP module.
  3. The browser method offers push notifications???
  4. 9651, does it support SMS or just push notifications via the app?
  5. What about the alarm being attacked though? What do the installers do then ? More and more panels are being placed on-line with the use of phone apps connecting to open ports.
  6. Ipsec if that is all you have. SSL based OpenVPN is one of the best options. If a decent router is too expensive, just use the router as the DSL MODEM and place a more capable device with OpenVPN behind it as a secure gateway to your internal network.
  7. If you have a decent router, then it will include a VPN option. This allows you to a single point of entry to your internal network and you can keep that point up to date with the latest firmware including the latest security patches. http://www.draytek.co.uk/information/our-technology/vpn-overview You connect to the VPN with your phone/laptop and run the app as if you are local to the panel. Unlike the low cost alarm modules/boards, the router will have a decent spec CPU/memory to handle the encryption and any attacks.
  8. I am familiar with the GX app. As long as you have the latest panel firmware and the latest Ethernet module firmware, then the app works well. The initial connection isn't as easy as it should be, but apart from that it's okay. Always use a VPN to access _any_ internal devices. Port forwarding to alarm panels (and other devices) should be avoided.
  9. Landing zone isn't included in part/night set. The dimension and flex have this too. No use if you have someone who works on nightshift and you have to part set and leave while they are in bed.
  10. The web interface provides the last months events and messaging is on a per event basis. There's no report option at the moment, but would be simple enough to create something that would ouput a CSV or Excel file of the last few months 'OP','CL','OG','CG' events. I just had a look at the database behind RSS and it does hold the downloaded event log, but doesn't hold it in a simple readable format. It would need some programming to convert into the logviewer format. The reason I looked at it was that apart from printing the logviewer, there doesn't seem to be any other way of dumping out a logview report.
  11. Honeywell RSS software works with the G2 panels. It can connect via PSTN, IP (if the panel has an IP module fitted) or by a plug in programming lead that connects directly to a header on the G2 PCB. It will be a pain manually collecting the information every few months and the G2 only has a 384 event FIFO. Providing that the triggers are enabled in the panel, an ARC or self monitoring with SIA or Microtech will have set/unset with username. If you can get one to provide a 1 month summary via e-mail for free, then it sounds like the best option.
  12. Version 3.2

    65 downloads

Installers should only download if they've purchased this already
  13. Version 3.38.004

    25 downloads

    RSS Patch v3.38.004
  14. I'd be interested to hear more about that, as I haven't seen the issue. I have test panels set up here, so could perform some cycle based testing to see if it's replicable.
  15. Anyone seen the Galaxy TouchCenter Plus in the flesh yet ? Thinking of getting one for some testing in the office. Screen res not great, but is there a better proper LCD based keypad ? https://www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/honeywell-touchcentre-plus-flush-with-builtin-prox-p-4979.html
  16. The Nova 2 is old kit now. Tainted by a design flaw that seen them chirp under cold conditions. Some new residential developments had multiple sounders chirping on cold mornings. A rework was required to correct the issue.
  17. You don't need to program the output type. Just set the control to toggle or trigger and connect the output to a relay to control a higher voltage/load. If you wanted the light to come on when the alarm triggers, then you could also set the output type to intruder or strobe.
  18. You need to change output menu 53.6 (control) for the output that you want to control via the app or touchcenter.
  19. Send me your pcb and I'll take a look at the charging circuit. The classic with these panels is open circuit of a resistor in the charge circuit, which is a result of incorrect polarity on the battery connection.
  20. I agree that the new ADT based parts may be of suspect origin, but they are easily identified by the revision -36 for ADT instead of -01 for the OEM. I always advise against ADT parts. I suppose the 'splitting kits' is akin to the corner shop splitting a multipack and would be frowned upon by the manufacturer. Op, have you tried contacting the original seller to get the board swapped out ? If you bought from Source security, I'm pretty sure he will send a replacement to get you sorted out. Also, what's the date code on the heatsink of the voltage regulator ? Rating the Galaxy panels quality and design wise, the Dimension (as per older G3 design) panel is at the top, with very good PSU and power circuit design. The G2 is next and fits very well in the domestic for a basic system. Lastly, the Flex, which fails in my book for its poor power supply, power circuit and pathetic time to boot. Ebay has its place and has a massive reach compared with traditional routes. Sellers are paying a whopping 13% of the total transaction cost (including postage) for that reach. The majority of sellers are genuine, but do your homework, check all feedback before buying and contact the seller before buying and if something goes wrong.
  21. Sold about 50 G2's in the last 12 months to self installers and 5 fitted myself. No fails from those. Previous year only one damaged by customer during install. The new panels go for around £30 on ebay and despite the scare stories, they are not stolen or old kit, they are new split kits. Just replace the panel pcb.
  22. No, it's not common. I've dealt with 100's of G2's and only seen damage due to lightning and an installers screwdriver spinning across the pcb and ripping some passives off near the voltage regulator (big heatsink).
  23. At least the BT service is ~10p per UK SMS. 1/5 of the OpenTAP price per message.
  24. Sub contract where self monitoring customers feel that install is too much for them.
  25. Honeywell G2-12 panel, honeywell detectors, texecom sounder. Never a glitch. Only seen one g2-12 panel fail doa and that was because the installers screwdriver spun across the pcb ripping off a couple of resistors along the way.
