  1. Only if the house has an earth Norm, stand easy!
  2. So odd that a router feature ended up being named after a very long bit of Korea...
  3. Agreed. Sounds like that is what he is going to do. I would add to include a bolt on the door esp. if it is a thin 'wardrobe' type effort.
  4. Yeah I wouldn't want a window cleaner that throws themselves at the windows, must be bad for business.
  5. I think as long as you are aware of the huge limitations of a bells-only system, that's fine. However, if I had penny for everytime I heard 'I'm sure the neighbours will look out for us' but also for every time they 'didn't hear a thing' after the event...
  6. The downside to the keypad in the cupboard is; You will not be able to protect the panel during entry/exit (if it's in the same cupboard) It will highlight to an intruder where the panel is Also, just talking from a professional POV, the contents of a premises are part of a risk assessment, but not everything. I'd personally only ever install to a minimum standard if a flat had £2 or £20000 worth of valuables. Having an outside bell is definitely a good move though if you are relying on bells only, as it will greatly reduce the opportunity to destroy both the panel and bell simultaneously.
  7. As above DMZ is rarely the correct answer, I don't know as much as many on here about IP but I know that.
  8. The attacks you mention are more common in smaller spaces (where the panel is obvious or easily found) or planned jobs, and to be honest they are the reason a professional would (or should) always at least offer monitoring, of a type whereby the connection itself is constantly checked - 'monitored monitoring' if you like. However, you are right that a correctly installed bell will have it's own battery to protect against such an attack. But, will it be external or next to the panel, i.e in the hallway?
  9. Fair enough Dawn, and if you can't get hold of them for any reason, you can always come back here and we might be able to recommend someone? Good luck!
  10. Lucky im good with chopsticks after a month in Japan a few years back! At least they did have Tetley over there. English bars are quite popular. Jap lager is worse than Carling and the spirits taste like paint stripper.
  11. Yes technicolour are absolute shiite. I'd even prefer BT HH
  12. I've been laughed out of the house by people with similar budgets, which always strikes me as a little odd because nowhere on our website etc... does it say we are cheap - quite the opposite. Yet they often have late plate, hi spec VW vans on the drive, if they own their own business it will be something at £50 an hour, house filled with iToys, sometimes all on tick I guess. But it's always a nice feeling on the next one when you quote a really decent system and they just say 'yes'.
  13. Went to 4 today, hideous LCD, I had to kneel down to see it, also a PIA to navigate around. No fobs. Sparky special, yuk when 9651 is same cash.
  14. It definitely is kicking in you appear to have time travelled!
  15. Yes, Scantronic is 1 way - forget it! Still like it for wired jobs but don't use it for wireless.
  16. Hi Peter, welcome, what brought you to the forum by the way?
  17. Not quite! It has 6 zones, 4 NC and 2 NO, and an LED per zone. Just to make it REALLY low current the LEDs don't show unless you hold a button (other than ARM) Key for arming is an eye-wateringly expensive keyed-alike Abloy, so it's the same as all the other locks and padlocks on the boat. All 3 Doors have standard MCs. As it's a steel box that's it! PA on one N/O, the rest spare Yep old Tandy buzzer for E/E. Hoisiden Beeson siren outside under seat bench, not a SAB. Reluctantly, as even if it worked the Scantronic would have pulled many mA... Still got the test lash up 9651 PCB tucked in a slot above my bench, might finish it one day!
  18. Yes just to be clear the speaker goes to the two terminals with the speaker symbol 'above' (on your upright pic) the Strobe - and + terminals. Not 'SOUND'. If you connect a speaker to the bell, yes, the speaker at least will probably go pop!
