  1. There is a another seller doing USB modules with 12 V flyleads - they are fully encapsulated and tend to be very reliable, also being aimed at cars they are fine from 12v to 14v etc... If you search for 'automotive 5v buck converter' you should get them come up, for anyone interested.
  2. That would be a good aim, I just wouldn't put it an an ad. They've already mentioned they are after experienced people.
  3. That would seriously put me off even if I thought I would be the ideal candidate. We all know the **** candidates will apply anyway but you might risk putting good ones off. I'd personally delete it. To me it suggests, 'we don't have time to train you, you won't get any support, you'll be out on your **** within 5 days,' even if it isn't true. Also is it just me that gets annoyed with the creeping US use of the word 'install' in place of 'installer'..?
  4. I tried those said cheapo PCBs on the boat to run LED strings, all bust in the same manner you mentioned, they are just very badly designed / made I think.
  5. Interesting, and this is to do with the write not read operations I believe? Might get away with it. The benefits will perhaps outweigh the disadvantages. Application is going to be one of your 4 way analogue DVRs on my van, with recording only with engine on and up to half an hour after key-out. For PSU have a 15v to 12v chinoise regulator off ebay. Front windscreen has a very cheap (but perfectly OK so far) HD all-in-one that I was given also to evaluate, that has it's own lithium batt on board. Had to buy my own memory though!
  6. Got it for free to evaluate so will let you know! Only 300GB
  7. I am reluctant to buy any more hardware at this stage or rely on a server, the 3cx looked good but only works with the pro version of the Gigaset, the 510 - and the 510 doesn't directly support an analogue trunk which was going to be great for ringing through to the house for OOH calls (mobile coverage is pants at home). I'm sure I will sort something out and 'go pro' in the future.
  8. Eurosec is a very basic 'sparky contract' panel, but fitted properly I believe that it should be as stable as any other budget LCD panel. So I highly suspect issues are caused by installation, design or other items, i.e poor quality PIRs badly placed to boot. As I say if you get posting then you can possibly apply for trade, where you will find a lot more members who can talk with you, many members here are 'trade only' and do not read and cannot reply in the public areas.
  9. Im playing with an ssd drive in a dvr at the mo, just for fun mind.
  10. Got myself a Gigaset (was Siemens) IP300 VoIP Dect setup, and liking it so far. The only thing where it falls down is that whilst you can have 6 completely different SIP accounts, the 'advanced SIP settings' are GLOBAL! So where I have used sipgate for one of the lines as a trial, the slightly odd settings they use would probably upset other providers. That's a real shame as I could otherwise have got myself totally free out-of-area incoming lines with sipgate (i.e Bristol no's and Bath no's) However, sipgate basic won't transfer in so I couldn't keep my old number... Also, the IVR capability is virtually non existant, but, I have been toying with the idea of getting a separate 'out of ours number' which the Siemens would redirect appropriately, so this would be the only phone ringing out-of-hours. Hard to know what to do really, pay a bit more for the Voip service, use IVR, and make the other phones act as 'extensions', or try and use the functionality of the unit a bit more...
  11. Bear in mind the first link may be VERY out of date, I can only speak for the Avon area but half of them were closed and have been removed, I suspect it will be the same for other areas if they haven't been checked by members that know the area.
  12. Paranoid much? Perhaps another mod could reassure Mr Call of the differing ip addresses?
  13. You would be better off having that conversation in our trade area, as it sounds as if you would be eligable, you just need to make 5 posts first. Be warned that the answer to your question initially is 'how long is a piece of string'. What are the subs installing?
  14. It's not even how it sounds either, it has little to do with the number of lines on a screen, not like resolution!
  15. I've seen it, common on ship-direct-from-china type analogue cams, hot air of course. I suspect the OP may well have blown the PSU with the extra IR of the new cams.
  16. Well the good news is that one ebay you can return things easily now, and that's what I would do. I know nothing about your DVR but it is possible your new cameras will be no better (recorded) than the current ones. The new cameras are NOT HD, they are just a higher resolution, but again this is mostly meaningless. What you need is a new DVR and some real HD cameras, like HD-SDI. Have a look here - DVR - Cam 1 - Cam 2 - these are top notch, and you won't look back. The only thing is your existing cameras (unless they are close together enough to be rewired anyway) will need co-ax cable with BNC connectors, HD-SDI will not run over twisted pair type wiring.
