  1. Change to default code, charge for that visit if required. Any existing contract to be settled as required.
  2. Here's a much better summary of Part P changes than the other ones; http://www.niceic.com/Uploads/File8952.pdf Basically - and I knew about the removal of Kitchens from special locations etc... but didn't realise it had gone this far. In a nutshell, with some exceptions only anything involving Bathrooms or any work starting, including, or ending up with tinkering at a CU is notifiable. No wonder all the Part P cert co's are folding / merging. Even outdoors is no longer special. I was in the process of getting a local electrician to do a Part P for me on an external socket and they very kindly pointed out my minor works would do under the new rules....
  3. Interesting little snippet re: the recent debate over isolation of a fan etc... Of course manufacturers requests would override this but interesting... www.hager.co.uk/files/nl/947127/50426/2db0815f9d6/l.htm
  4. +1 Axis are bulletproof, and no mickey mouse company to deal with either, which is a bonus.
  5. I dont believe old ones can be flashed, no.
  6. Hi Craig, welcome. You've got your 5 posts so why not apply for trade membership?
  7. I'm not aware of any insurer that gives discounts on the work and/or ongoing maintenance of any non approved installer. Well, I suppose they might be interested if it contributed to the house burning down.
  8. Is that like Oxford Brookes?

  14. Oh yeah class that... He calls himself King of the callers.. Noone else calls him that...
  15. Still pmsl at the 30 minutes extra pay timewaste exit interview... And for some reason when he scuzzes the curry on the floor...
  16. Hes been **** ever since he surrounded himself with 'yes men' Bet they had some right rows writing pheonix nights and the result was quality 'that peter kay thing' was brilliant too.
  17. Chief lock changer
  18. You only get that working in the licence activation department
  19. What's with this testing thing, I'm sure many of us replace an old PIR for FA'ing even if it isn't obviously 'broken'... Do your company have a fully staffed soak testing suite to catch out false comission claiming engineers? I can't (immediately) believe they waste their time and energy testing anything brought back to be honest... The only time I do it is if its something I've changed under warranty and only if I'm being OCD.
  20. Interesting, it used to be routers that got killed by PAT
  21. But do you need to bother? Perhaps from a keep-up-appearances POV yes... But from a technical perpective, perhaps not! Or so it seems.
  22. I always wondered if the PCBs were slightly different, i.e better voltage regs on the surveillance and NAS as they often use plug top trafos? Otherwise yeah most of the differences would just be method of operation.
  23. v.interesting, must admit I'm a sucker for the SV35 range, suppose customer could always be left to make the choice...
  24. rainex, I remember that from when I got my first car, bottle left in the boot!
