  1. Nuclear cleanup site?
  2. First house I ever rewired the plumber had started the job off (perfectly legal pre-2004, if not stupid) and then disappeared. When I questioned the 100mA RCD, the lady didn't really know what I was on about, but then said 'oh he mentioned that I think, apparently they'd run out of something or other but he said this was just as good'.
  3. Don't worry we've got 2 whippets and an outside toilet so you wouldn't feel too left out!
  4. True story this, today after 3 years in storage we wheeled out our (new at the time) Bosch dishwasher and said goodbye to the crappy built-in one that came with the house. To my annoyance, it went into error 5 minutes after every cycle, even though it had been cleaned and drained before we moved. What was it? The flow switch uses an externally mounted reed over a sealed into the main water jacket rotating wheel with magnet. Jammed shut. Mild percussion maintainance fixed the machine
  5. If it's ex-ADT I would assume junk status simply due to the fact the codes are probably locked. Whether you can get a new main unit and re-sure the sensors though, would be for someone else to answer?
  6. Yep silly price though. For the low price of free are you ready for some more things being sent Logan? I also dug out that ancient analogue (but electronic) codelock, all it needs is a miniature pushbutton x10 for the keypad part, it isn't even multiplexed. No manual but every terminal is labelled in plain text e.g. 'LOCK OUTPUT' etc.... Although the original backbox for the external keypad was still on the building, it was like an old fashioned iron conduit box, virtually welded on to the steel frame of the building and the frontplate long gone.
  7. Alarm Inquisitive Dysfunctional Syndrome?
  8. Careful, I might have to channel the Voice of AG...
  9. Odd, data via the Zone then! And also 'clean' power on B and C, and presumably dirty power for the detectors!
  10. Instructions are very odd though, which is why I wondered; Connect to Zone 8 'A' terminal for a 16, or any Zone 'A' terminal for a 64, the A+B zone splitter thing I do remember although now don't even have any of these on the books and never any with zems or splits. So presumably replaces the zone in each case? Wasn't the zone splitting sort of 'secret', in that they wouldn't tell you the resistor values but rather tryed to either sell you a box or their own brand PIR which had the 2nd alarm terminals built in?
  11. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ABACUS-REM-UNIT-BRAND-NEW/193054640248?hash=item2cf2f40878:g:2MQAAOSwPUVdWTbJ So are these actually 'digital' or just a very elaborate setup of resistor values? As I notice it connects to a zone, not a databus according to the instructions??
  12. Yeah - the British alarm industry and my part in it's downfall
  13. Yeah I know - I used to use the bells That said the remaining ones do look tat now, and if they are still a customer they are replaced. Now I've run out of those 30 additional lids I could no longer get the bases for, that is...
  14. In the end I tossed the Avanti after the RKP broke (I dropped it) but the metal case lives on housing a control board in my now sold narrowboat!!
  15. I guess, just that the LCD manual and phrases look a bit familiar. I never installed Avanti either but did buy one to look at, they did UDL and prox models with up to 16 zones.

  17. I saw these panels the other day from tat bin specialists Challenger, and then knock me down I actually saw one the same week in the wild. What got me was they actually looked OK for base Chinese tat - as if they had at least been designed in the UK - and not saying I would fit them. I half wonder if they have bought or copied old Avanti gubbins? https://www.challenger.co.uk/assets/technical_downloads/Challenger_AP11LCD_User-d29b1eaf544009155a4392c565938a2831f4ded2292efe93bc81f28fe1bb1aa0.pdf https://www.cef.co.uk/catalogue/products/1598134-10-zone-panel-with-remote-lcd-keypad
  18. Possible, personally I would wait for more evidence though.
  19. Apropos of nothing Eaton / Scanny wireless contacts also do pulse count for RSD, never noticed the feature on any other TBH
  20. Hope I don't have to look up that one in the phone book
  21. Oh, well that's OK then.
  22. How do you know these things - who tells you?
  23. Funny company that CSA, bought by Menvier early 90s just before they themselves got taken over by Scantronic I think. Occasionally rebadged products have appeared over here usually prox related e.g. standalone door entry prox rebadged as a UK Menvier product and also the menvier keypad passive proxies were by that co. in Italy.
