Yep just for clarity I'm fine with, and understand that, just confused that we seemed to be saying you basically can't fit ANY ancilliaries or monitored input devices to a graded system.
-
But fire detectors and freezer alarm contacts are not graded at all, as they are not intruder componenrts to PD6662? I appreciate I am not approved, but surely a graded system doesn't mean you can't have ancilliaries that don't form part of the intruder system? Are there really no Grade 3 (or Grade 2 for that matter) systems out there with technical and freezer alarms attatched?
-
I'm sure you all know this, but the benefit of the OP, it IS at a push possible for an intruder based system to comply under BS5939-6 though as Grade C, The PSU standby times are onerous and would be unlikely to be met by anything other than (in my world) an I-On 160 with twin 17aH batteries on board. But it does basically allow an IAS (or anything really, other than the standby length it does not specify the CCE must meet any EN or be a certain type of equipment as that would be Grade B IIRC). I've previously had IAS based systems, with standard batteries e.g shorter standby on new builds waived through by BC on the basis of first years monitoring and cover included, so any faults will be acted upon, not ignored. As far as fire on a Grade 3, leaving out the issue of 'why is OP doing DIY to G3' I don't see the issue with this as it does not form part of the intrusion detection, it's surely an ancilliary same as connecting a freezer or other technical alarm?

You must be close if you have the exact same hobbies? Sadly, it won't do this, but you would at least be able with the GJD to distinguish between alarm, confirmed alarm, and panic button activations. They haven't lied TBF, it will pretty much work with ANY 12-24V device (fire, access control, intruder, vending machine...) just not that intuitively. The irony is that the 40H* would have been practically the same price It will also do SMS as long as you have a BT line with an inexpensive plug-on extra PCB (and no, dialler fans, not the dreaded TAP, but the actually working ETSI, though only on certain BT billed, not just Openreach provided, lines) *There are plenty of other cloud connected panels, not sure how many of them are currently 100% free though

I was in the process of using a GJD SMS unit the other day to monitor access to shared storage and service rooms, unlike most GJD products it is just bought-in and using the menu system was incredibly painful. (I was using it because the people who owned the block had it abandoned by their sparky who took the job on, bought the kit then couldn't work out how to get it going...). Anyway I quickly persuaded the customer I would be using an SD03 (Eaton) which was a dream to use other than the odd situation of needing pull up resistors (which were not included in the box, and were not 2.2k, grrr!) on NC loops but not NO ones at the same potential. OP, I would save some sanity and either ditch the GJD for an SD03 or, cheaper, AND better TELL Compact II, which is USB proggable (ebay links as its DIY) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GSM-Compact-II-Professional-Intruder-Alarm-Auto-Dialer-Calls-SMS/323841153490?hash=item4b666fd9d2:g:g7cAAOSweLBajXCD I've used the TELL before on fire panels, it really is bullet proof and despite only 2 channels also does temperature and battery monitoring, as well as SMS number changes so I don't have to visit site. or... I wouldn't use it myself at least you could fit this within the panel https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Texecom-Veritas-R8-Alarm-SMS-Alert-module/232381515453?epid=2216179021&hash=item361b0486bd:g:Y9AAAOSw5rFa5Y1u The irony is that if you'd fitted an Eaton (Scantronic) i-ON 40H you would have had broadband app monitoring free for life. (I suspect they will start charging when the app comes to the commercial panels when they are launched, but have promised existing subs will be free 'forever'). It would have been the same money overall :-/ Either way, I WOULD use the comms pinouts to install whatever unit you use, it'll be fine for that, and has quite a hefty comms PSU capability, something like 500mA I think. Also, esp. if you continue with the GJD, you can at least use the full 6 or 8 inputs (I forget) for other events such as tampers, power failure, etc...

Others might say that, on reflection, it's bit of a local joke, and doesn't really work when compared to a town the size of Hartlepool

Keypad arrived this afternoon, will see if I can get anything wired up over the weekend -
Yes Upload/Download. (I don't know how Pyronix cloud works, but on Eaton this would be an option only relevent to telephone (or direct IP) access and not cloud access. To block eng. cloud access would be a different setting. But having re-read the initial thread it seems this is the universal block setting for all types of remote access on this panel) I would imagine you would always be able to see engineer access in the log, again on Eaton this would also be pinged up in the app as a push notification. Though again re-reading above, it seems otherwise... No doubt someone that actually knows the panel will be along shortly Funny I used to use a few Pyronix accessories (TwinAlert, BGM, Vocaliser, years ago PIRs) and occasionally we would help out with a Castle installer on larger or approved jobs but I've never fitted a single Pyronix panel.

Hello, and welcome! Not tempted by the ebay Euro link

Is it a 2nd hand panel that used to have extra devices?

You already knew the engineer code? Or you have just reset it now? -
Pyronix Enforcer comms issue
datadiffusion replied to HoofHearted's topic in Members Lounge (Public)
Great stuff, glad you got it sorted. Sounds like 3am is 'reset time' for your BB then. We had a similar issue on an SPC, that had IP comms but also SMS to tell on-call employees of any issues. Every night at 9pm there would be a 2-3 second line drop, which would be logged regardless of any delay timer, most odd. -
No, this was the secret panel they created for the aborted takeover, OP is very welcome to post pics in the collectors area Joking aside, yes with older panels especially non-cloud types the best advice is definately to leave alone if it works

Scantronic is dead, all hail Eaton I wonder if the whole affordability of LCDs caught them a little by surprise but someone in marketing didn't like the sound of 9900! I had what I think was a prototype Mosaic RKP once (in a 9610 type keypad enclosure) which I think had the part number 91000 or something, it looked odd and obviously got totally changed for the main production.

Pyronix Enforcer comms issue

If you don't live in the Mendips and pay £60 a month to a company called Truespeed please ignore anything about Truespeed As for BT yes DO change all the settings I recommended. The 2Ghz 5Ghz combined thing is notorious for causing issues with Samsung and Apple phones, so it's good to turn it off regardless. Smart Connect is a load of old crap that means any 'unknown' device has it's web access blocked until they click on a button and it tries to make them downlaod bloatware crap. I have, in the past, seen this cause issues with Hikvision DVRs, so again, who knows what else it can so, as above worth turning off regardless as it's a PIA for guests connecting to your wifi. Ah I wasn't sure if it was a Wifi only card or if it offered wired network on the same card Much bargain, very cheap https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pyronix-Castle-EURO-46-WIRED-KIT-1/312671501376?hash=item48ccac7c40:g:o9MAAOSwHjxdENXw -
Telecom Security - BNIB find!

Cheers, another member has PMd me the manuals for the 680, it mentions the default engineer number, (and although you can, tells employees not to change it!) so I'm going to assume that this is the same one that would come from the factory, after all it looks like the unit has very custom firmware. What I can't see yet is any way to disable the comms or change the phone number which I find a bit odd - the 680 manual is written in house for staff rather than by the manf. and isn't a full manual, mainly zones, helpful enough for now though. Something else not mentioned is the default master code, only how to change it! Once I've got my keypad I'll post a quick vid -
