Pyronix Enforcer comms issue
datadiffusion replied to HoofHearted's topic in Members Lounge (Public)
Don't worry we asked Truespeed if we could simply buy a 'cable' router and they said to my customer 'do that and we will disconnect you'. And they cannot / would not turn off their wifi anyway. Charming. Apparently they are working VERY HARD on a script to fix the channel number! I have warned other customers who have been thinking about Truespeed to give them a country mile. That said, this is what happens when BT, for all their faults, dig their heels in and the gov ponies up money to clueless amateurs. They obviously have some sort of derrogation not to have to do the cable laying to usual standards, as they are using special colour Polypipe (Orange) and polypipe fittings and chucking most of it about 12-24" deep max in the hedge along the valley. They have also let them close key roads through built up area for literally WEEKS to chuck in a few shallow cables. Delivery to the sub is via new fibres strung across to the property from existing BT overhead poles (or occasionally coming down the pole from the opposite side of the road and along the front lawn). -
Pyronix Enforcer comms issue

When you get the new BT router, make sure you; Separate the 2ghz and 5ghz bands (I just rename the 5ghz band with the same name as the 2ghz and a '5' on the end, same password) - this option is under the 'advanced' wireless network menu I personally set the 2ghz band NOT to auto-select a channel, I choose 1 or 12 myself, 5ghz there are a lot more channels and rarely interference from nearby houses so I leave that as it is Turn off any 'smart connect' or 'safe connect' features - I forget which menu this is under but google it I know nothing about the Enforcer but if there is any way of a wired connection (or homeplug) I'd do that instead. Interestingly I have come across a major and increasing problem with my more rural customers, a private company round here called Truespeed is laying their own truly private fibre network as BT won't provide VDSL even to large villages with new housing developments. The routers are Huwawei ones, 100% locked down, you cannot even view the web admin let alone log in. You cannot change the wireless password, nor any settings, all the customers clutch tightly onto hand written wifi password cards given to them by the engineer, that is their only original copy! You can't choose fixed IPs, you cant change channels. I was fooked trying to connect a panel via Wifi as it kept changing channels every few minutes and would drop out. Thankfully we managed to use homeplugs, which I don't like, but I couldn't wire it. -
Telecom Security - BNIB find!
datadiffusion replied to datadiffusion's topic in Vintage General Discussion
Cheers @goncall and thanks, I forgot you'd probably have come across these. I did re-read the manual after (the one written by Telecom and intended to be left with the customer, although the later one tucked inside the later Galaxy based model) and you're right Medical says they would actually only call an ambulance if they had spoken back to you first (same with Fire then but not mentioned in the manual). As I said earlier the Telecom Security white hex bell comes with an Elmdene manual headed up 'ADT Modern Siren model xxxx' (c) 1997 - makes you realise how long ago it all was. -
Telecom Security - BNIB find!

Years ago, @norman said in relation to the same panel as above... I seem to have the programming keypad (see above pic) but can't see where on earth you would plug it? Or is there an interface board that's missing a bit like on a Texe flasher? (the plug next to the heatsink is comms and the one on the programming RKP won't fit anyway) -
Used their relays a few times, and those tampered alarm wire to armoured boxes they sell, you could make your own but buying theirs is much easier! https://www.dantech.uk.com/DA318.html Though, I like the way they obviously have about 20 years stock of old-shape MK metalclad boxes to get through before they move on to the modern ones!
-
Elmdene did one too, I've got one here without the 'key', no idea why I keep it on stock. I had an 'exit terminate' parts bin sort out today amongst other things (30kg of stuff to Logan ) 5 x Elmdene ET's with the 12V red led 1 x Elmdene magnetic ET One small type Arnie One large arnie One Knights surface keyswitch (not really ET but sort of feels like the right bin) 5 x chinktat but look nice ET buttons on flush stainless plates (this was leftovers for a posh Bath flats job, all monitored by the 24/7 concierge, AFIAK since we never went back the concierge is long gone...) Can't imagine using any of them in a hurry It's not a buzzer though, it's an actual speaker, I've seen buzzers loads, but not a tone speaker.... It could even be a talking ET if you connected it to an SPC!
-
So in my bundle of crap that some poor guy was no doubt delighted to offload AND get paid for it, there was this DA product, which I never knew existed... What's special about it is that its got it's own miniature speaker so you can hear the tones from outside - I've never seen that before. And that's about it really.

https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Main_Index/Quinetic/index.html Seems very keenly priced. And the whole battery thing really does mean it's something you'd actually offer a non tech-savvy customer. I wonder if the EnOcean patent has expired or something, MK used to sell them but at very p-take prices e.g. £80 for a single switch.

Telecom Security - BNIB find!
datadiffusion replied to datadiffusion's topic in Vintage General Discussion
Nope from what I can gather they mostly had dummy H boxes, apparently very few were live bells, my bundle came with a few white Hex bells which come with Elmdene siren guts with manuals stating 'ADT Modern'. I think during the Modern Eurobell era they were still owner by BT? Not as interesting but I also have a Galaxy 16+ bnib with Telecom software and Telecom branded rkp Inc the special multicoloured alert buttons. -
So you might have noticed back in the day a few Telecom Security boxes, the earlier ones of which had the famous post-81 British Telecom logo on. https://burglaralarmbritain.wordpress.com/2013/07/18/telecom-security-southwark/ It seems they were bought by Modern Alarms but also seemed to be still around for a short time at least, by the time Modern themselves were rolled into ADT. By the end they appeared to be using the same Galaxy systems as ADT, but with Telecom branding on the RKPs and the 'famous' coloured buttons for Police, Fire and Medical. But what I've got hold of is one of the earlier, very definately not-available-in-shops Telecom alarms, brand new in it's box. Note the BT logo but only on the inside. Very US looking, and would have had an external PSU and a keylock in the states too. However the plug, rather than spur, connection is also very 'BT'. For some reason I'm assuming that these panels were never actually BS compliant, despite the inferred police dispatch? Or did BT 'misuse' their ability to access 999 direct? It's certainly the only monitoring co. I've ever come across that will call you an ambulance, other than specialist medical (non-security) monitoring? Note it can do up to 24 zones via expanders back when this was unheard of for most panels especially a domestic aimed system. This solves the 'mystery' of the Scantronic Telecom keypads being sold on eBay, I don't know what DSS stands for but I know that Arrowhead* (see below) was a US company bought up by Scantronic Holdings in the early 90s. It went as badly as you can imagine and is pretty much how Scanny fell into the hands of US buyers (Cooper) the first time round with Arrowhead (seemingly partially rebranded to Scantronic by then) being essentially written off for pennies. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Scantronic-Alarm-Control-LED-Keypad-Telecom-Security-Ref-9601/173941423825?hash=item287fb77ed1:g:a2EAAOSwQydcyxxN In fact, take a look at the panel closely and you'll see a Scan Tronic label on one of the ICs. I'm impressed by that Siemens CPU too. I don;t have a keyboard but this little bundle came with something I've never seen before on ebay - an Arrowhead programming keyboard! It's just like the eBay link above, but with 3 LEDs not two, and 3 extra wires and a plug. Unfortunately, there is no-where to plug it onto this unit. So, for now the adventure stops. Were these programmed remotely (as it was a monitored-only service) or only via the remote? I suppose it could have been done via a 2 digit RKP, after all the 9800 is. Does anyone know anything about these....?

Certainly the Fike manual tells you to keep fire cables at least 20cm (IIRC) from any other electrical cable - and if you wanted to rely on BS7671, that also compels you to follow manufacturers instructions, so... As above, @Scotmod hasn't signed in for about 3 years, so better to start a new thread. And, welcome

Since we've strayed down Philips CCTV alley... These look cool and as if they were once VERY expensive. The guy seems to deal in mil surplus, so assume unused ex-MOD type kit? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Philips-CCTV-LDH-0670-00-CCD-Camera-with-LDH-6713-01-Lens/382915802891?hash=item59278f770b:g:qWYAAOSw~yNbbsmM Then this chancer gives out the dictionary definition of blind optimism... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PHILIPS-CCTV-color-CCD-here-together-a-6x-zoom-lens-model-LDH6750-00-AZ2-USM99/113777772324?hash=item1a7daf0724:g:Z1kAAOSw1DtblUoC

Only as far as September last year. (Though of course, that could have been the police turning on his PC after finding the corpse after 2 and a bit years. Just like in that film about that woman. 'Dreams of a Life' I think it was called. 'Dreams of No Life' if you're a TSI regular...) And, in case this all comes across as a bit morbid, console yourself with a look at this little haul... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Scantronic-Alarm-System/223457354718?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908103841%26meid%3D651b2cde261c4904a2b5d6ff03e760e9%26pid%3D100227%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D8%26sd%3D264305263909%26itm%3D223457354718&_trksid=p2054502.c100227.m3827 Someone is going to be in for a little bit of an annoying time after sticking it all up and realising Risko wireless detectors don't play nicely with Scanny 9448s
