  1. Close shave though? Thankfully all the large box fixed cameras round here that used to be in the Bristol / Somerset / Wilts partnership are rusty history, the thin digital ones are under council control, thankfully there are only a handful of those and they could never afford new ones. Not that I condone speeding... On public roads...
  2. I thought I'd been had the other day, but it's now 14 days so phew. Tiny stretch of 30 between two parallel 40's just outside Bath. I had, in fact, just nearly overrun a Stop junction - which is something I would never have thought I was capable of, especially as I then recognised it from TV as a notorious accident blackspot! As a result of that, I either didn't notice the main 30 signs, or they might not even have been there having been knocked over by the last crash! Anyway I was doing about 38 just as I noticed the repeater sign with the camera symbol - and yes, you've guessed it that was the day the guy was out with the camera, no-one behind so put the brakes on sharpish, I was driving towards the camera, I have heard conflicting stories as to whether some of the newer units work both ways or not. Anyway, 14 days and nothing. Did I ever tell you I am eligible for exam-free membership of the IAD on the basis of my emergency driving certificate!?
  3. Radar gun? We used to s**t them up with a 1970s hairdryer!
  4. I bet, also love the permanent perspex screen on the McDonalds counter at the 'leisure' park. Had a rep come down from Siemens (Vanderbilt) once, he says to me 'they've booked me in at Premier Inn Hengrove tonight, is that alright round there?' hard to keep a straight face!
  5. Ah good old Hengrove Park, where you would get mugged for popcorn at the local multiplex...
  6. Can someone help fix my 1993 Vauxhall Cavalier? I've never spent a penny on having it serviced but I'm sure it's worth spending money on getting working again.
  7. They're doing deals on boxer shorts and door contacts this weekend #blackfriweek
  8. Debenhams plus is just a licencing deal with someone like rgbdirect using the better known name, for a % of sales, and has nothing to do with the store... ...that said agree it's still a s###e place to buy security kit IMHO.
  9. I know very little about Cisco as they are a bit proprietary for my liking, but on the snom I simply programmed each of the 12 fastdial keys with the voice page code followed by the extension, cloned the quickdials across all the units, and printed inlays as required. I imagine the Cisco would offer pretty much exactly the same features though?
  10. Well, all the local medical establishments use either aiphone or Bosch for intercom, used to use Philips M100 but it appears thats long gone! (I've just reread and see you were after voip anyway). I have setup an intercom using freepbx on a raspberry pi and cheap snom handsets. That way you can use the presets to dial a 'voice page' etc... which if answered becomes a speakerphone call.
  11. Yes, they have sorted the zones on keypad thing now - totally agree it should have been there from the start.
  12. It was a bit of a flippant comment, the point is more I suppose how easy it is to build a half decent website these days, and yet...
  13. Bit of a strong reaction, keypads are solid IMHO but each to their own. As you say, you don't use it.
  14. I've just had 1995 on the phone, they want their website back...
  15. I believe they are written to just once on registration, preventing them being cloned so easily?
  16. I see no reason why not, esp with the MAX. For the RF fobs I guess you would have to be sure that you don't use the fob more than 256 times at one site before returning to the other, as that could upset the rolling code... Unless they are 2 way, in which case I am unsure of the answer.
  17. Its actually a little odd when you think about it. Panel has all hardware for transmission of encrypted SIA data over IP built in. Simultaneously Eaton provide the gateway website that collates data for installer and emails / alerts re. any faults. I can fine tune it eg to only ever hear about confirmed alarms, low batteries and tampers, for example. This functionality familiar to webway users. Same Web based platform also provides online engineer access. So why does SIA data flow via ww / csl, rather than direct to monitoring co.? The benefit I suppose is mostly for those who have inherited mixed estates which are on ww / csl platforms but want to fit this product going forward. Don't forget this is only available on new gen2 products and sadly not by updating older ion products. However, it is also unlikely ion 50 and 160 customers will want or be allowed this basic single path level of signalling, for them the product is still fully Webway compatible in the traditional external, dual path module way
  18. I saw this coming a little while back as two new options appeared on the master webpage for my Gen II i-On panels. But it was officially announced today, it would seem you can now get SIA over IP monitoring via CSL and Webway at the click of a button on Ion Gen II platforms (So far, Style, 30R and 40H), no extra hardware required. I suppose the next release will be a 3/4G module to fit into the i-On footprint. However, if it is the usual £250 touch of previous Eaton GSM add-ons it would be hard to recommend over existing external module solutions eg webway nano.
  19. In my experience the f**kers tend to give better prices if they think you're Billy Hatchback Cash Account.
