  1. Yes, although new devices are 2 way such as PA button, but for reasons that totally escape me, and seem to be being evaded, not the new DT's...
  2. Finding a TSX Node on an M800 suggests it's a takeover / replacement in the first place, as IIRC TSX Nodes were 'compatible' with the M Common Platform series but not the recommended item for new jobs. Although admittedly it could just be someone using up older expander stock when the new panels came out. After all at a push these panels will even work backwards as far as the old 2 Zone TS expander, or LEC6 with caveats! (The replacement, an MS Node, will emulate a TSX node, or even a TS900 node, if required) Do you know for sure it has always worked before the crash? And are you adding the nodes in the proper way by using the 'Equipment' menu etc...? Apols if you are familiar with the panel, but not TSX. My experience with the M and x5 series has only ever been with the later MS Nodes, which require a fair amount of jumper config over and above other systems.
  3. I think it pretty much says as much on the website. Adrian was on here a minute ago.
  4. The good (and bad) thing about my other job is that it teaches you what burnout is and how quickly it can creep up on people, some of whom least expect it. I had a bit of an Arf moment last week when a couple of the older people were talking about retirement. I realised I had exactly 30 years to go this month!! Yeah there are a couple of them at the running club who make out it's like Ibiza with free beer and I'm thinking WTF!?
  5. Agreed, it only works for me as it's pretty much nil risk, minimum expenditure, nil advertising. Turned down more work this year than I've accepted, not including unanswered quotes.
  6. But, simple no trick question, would you start a security company from scratch, today?
  7. That's what the £199 crew are doing, and they are the majority. You'll only be getting a 9651 (from me) for that, as I say, absolute minimum. Average from me domestic is a grand, tomorrow's intruder job is £1200.
  8. Yeah some small business, sometimes it means I do the CCTV and Access whilst someone else does the approved intruder; whilst usually this can be a bit undesirable, as they (approved intruder people) might try and steal the CCTV / Access back, the feedback I usually get is that the alarm people are crap and lazy anyway plus unreliable and I'm great (but that still doesn't make it worthwhile getting approved). A lot less callback / bother on CCTV and Access IMHO and esp. access a lot less muppets to quote against plus usually customer expectation it wont be £99.99 a door.
  9. For me it's a small niche market of those who are happy that the minimum price for a decent quality intruder alarm in a 3 bed semi is circa £600ish. No SSAIB / NSI here. Those customers do exist, just don't expect a flood of them.
  10. If it was do-able I'd Honeywell would have done it by now. Very surprised that no manufacturer has, to my knowledge, these days.
  11. Well it's a great scheme isn't it, as you explained, by investing in offshore below market-cost bellbox manufacture (which Big Security doesn't want you to know about!) £3k paid in every year for 5 years pays back double in only ten years. Whats not to like?
  12. However a politely treated yet later defunct company doesn't help anyone... There really seems no excuse for not having 2 way wireless; that said I like them as wired panels and think the new app is great (but will it come to the higher models...? Suspect not as any site with 40+ zones will be 'properly' monitored I suppose. That said SPC does this well with the option for easy, yet secure engineer access via the web but top notch signalling options also available. Anyway, will reply properly to DM tomorrow Dave. Which exact models were 'mosaic' - is that the 808, 816 etc...? Had an 816 at parents old house, yeah funny bit of kit but seemed OK. Admittedly only bells no UDL attempted etc...
  13. Hi & welcome. I'm a Scantronic user, but very disillusioned with the wireless currently. AFAIK iOn has been 2-way capable since launch, which I think was 2009? So when can we expect 2 way wireless door contacts, PIRs and vibration sensors?
  14. Only if it's fitted. Have been other UK scenarios where a stop was left off and gate was able to come right off the rails.
  15. Is the manufacturers delivery that unreliable?
  16. Quite, just that Joe Public presumes a specialist is just that, sadly Of course money comes into it and said specialist is simply quoting at the lower price they know will be accepted by leaving out pesky safety extras...
  17. Though it will only prove the battery is getting power to the right part of the bell circuitry, (esp. if it's just been replaced), it won't necessarily prove the charging side of the bell is working.
  18. Some of the worst firms round here are the ones that 'specialise' in gates'...
  19. This will prove if the SAB is working correctly or not. If the siren sounds when you remove the permanent negative feed (not the trigger, don't confuse the two) then the SAB module / battery are mostly working. This does not test the capacity of the battery, or (and especially as it is new) the charging circuit within the bell, though.
  20. No doubt he also buys a Shangfen 'eyePhone' rather than waste money on an expensive Apple rip-off equivalent.
  21. In a nutshell you've possibly just wasted money on a new battery when a new bell complete with new battery was probably what was needed. The question you didn't understand was designed to help ascertain the above. Back up the ladders...
