  1. I don't tend to have as much to do with these as Scantronic, but IIRC the speaker volumes(s) is controlled from software and the pot is just for the local piezo. Just wondering if the main battery had been changed recently when asking about service, as the last thing you want is for that to throw up an error at 3am if it's cooked / flat from old age.
  2. I would simply just turn the volume down to zero on the affected keypad, if the alarm is barely used as an alarm... When was it last serviced?
  3. Right, got it. Easy (for me anyway) to confuse PO with RM, quite separate... Had noticed CBRE bells at local PO recently.
  4. I had one of those (JSB) EOLs kicking around my workshop until the move. Binned it last year, typical!
  5. Wasn't aware of that product, and I thought I knew the entire Aico range! I knew they did 12v and even 9v battery interlinked models but not in the modern style case like this. Well, was modern until the very newest style mains case.
  6. Which should have been changed in 2010. Although unless you've remembered your installation dates wrong, a little unfair, IMHO, for a large company to be fitting 2 year sat on the shelf detectors. Even I would rotate / manage stock enough to avoid a 2 year old detector with a ten year life being fitted. But anyway, this is now and 15 years later just a little unfair for you to expect a free visit. Also I mis-read your first post where I thought you meant you didn't (or were not aware) of having a fire alarm
  7. As for the model it will almost certainly be a Scantronic 9651EN, as it has no 'banner text' meaning it's not going to be a 9651UK (which shows only 9651 in the 2nd line) or any other 9x5x, unless the banner text was left blank which is unlikely. Fire zones is showing rather than tamper faults so this is a little odd. Is the panel in what used to be an unfinished garage? Just wondering if there is a boxed in sensor in the former open roofspace?? But as above TAC are very much a going concern, and quite good from what I've heard. It will need a new system battery as well as a fix.
  8. Nope, it really wouldn't! The 16 isn't updatable (ever), is wireless only, and doesn't even have the 1st generation web interface let alone the 2nd generation cloud based one! Also don't confuse the iOn 40 (still for sale) with the 40H.
  9. The answer is no, no and no. DA have been out of business for many years, and something will fail soon, I guarantee it as I see it every week. It'll usually be the power supply / charger leading to 'fun times' at 3am. Any recent alarm system would be able to re-use the existing cables, but frankly on a system that age without updates or servicing, thats all I'd re-use. Personally I would use an Eaton iON 40H for a free, web (cloud) based app (that doesn't need port forwarding) but this would be an irregular choice. Others will no doubt post their favourites.
  10. Christ, when I was dealing with specialist hardware in 2001 that used Psion IIIs we were having to raid eBay for spare serial leads etc... even then! Psion were just about going and still supplying rom cards direct. They actually sent us one of those USB DAB radios we bought so many. It was as dreadful as all the reviews said, but fair enough, innovative at a time when dedicated sets were still £400ish.
  11. Not too sure if we will find out as he has only ever logged in for that one post!
  12. Had someone call me last week for 'your door entry is alarming, even though we've reset in net2', after a quick fire alarm fault check, it's not us after all...
  13. I mean if you stick your true RMS fluke into the socket you'll read about 240v.
  14. The UK is officially 230VAC like the rest of the EU, but this is a nominal figure, which allows an upper tolerence limit within which 240V (which is what you'll mostly measure 'in real life') is quite acceptable.
  15. Despite that you've got a few replies. Steinel do one that operates off 240V but has a truly isolated, universal C/O contact, designed for integration into non-mains applications. It comes flush and they clearly use a high quality downlight casing which makes preparing the hole easy (standard 70mm). It's also tiltable and comes with a mask. I am not sure if you are dead against 240v for a reason or just didn't think anyone did a 240V sensor with isolated output.
  16. 'Intruder fire' can be safe - and an approved method - but for full acceptance needs a lot more expenditure i.e power backup++ over and above what most panels can supply on-board. Agreed with H for DIY (ironically) 'mains' is best.
  17. I tried the M12's once; the older model (forget the code) was fine, had a load of FA's on a M12 set to heat-only, which never really was satisfactorily resolved; just to add into the mix the panel itself was changed due to odd behaviour for a completely different make. It was expansion bus related, and this sensor was direct on the panel, but who knows, it put me off them sadly. I would better take advice from someone that has fitted lots of M12's though. However, I have fitted a few Texecom ones and are usually fine, had a bit of a 'bad run' with them (2-3 from the same era, so presumably the same batch) but installed many before and since without issues.
  18. Could be a hi-bye... But welcome back anyway.
  19. Agreed, remember those network engineers gunned down in Checynya a few years back, and that was after the main conflict had so say ended.
