  1. Great idea if you have plenty of spare, programmable (+ pref. ability to be non-siren at 2AM 'technical' zones) IMHO. For all the future hastle better off just upgrading panel to same as your wireless choice, can't be much extra by the time you've splashed out on devices + RX (I assume universal RX dearer than expander). Doesn't the Euro Mini handle a single Pyronix expander?
  2. And wouldn't THAT be fun on an LED keypad panel at 2AM!
  3. (Probably another 3 if we're going to ) Just wondered as it has a 7 segment display, but not obvious from the spec exactly what this shows other than numerical zone activation (which I assume you can turn off).
  4. Just out of interest, how does the UR2 signal jamming, supervision, and battery notifications?
  5. That seems a bit odd; certainly on the Eaton we install, the installer would have to change the type and nature of notifications (but can be done remotely), but the 'phonebook' and adding cloud app accounts is a user function. Does the installer have remote access to the system, do you know?
  6. It's like something out of Macbeth
  7. ^^ See what we mean! Welcome!
  8. Yup years ago. Old School Castle was what was used when our electrical contracting firm (who used LCD Gardtec 816s) had a 'proper job' to be handed over to approved co. Got to know the lads quite well and they showed me how it ticked. Remember I'm running things on the pilot light right now, and probably for the next couple of years during 'project house'; then hopefully not at all! So reluctant to transfer to anything new whilst I still have plenty of stock.
  9. Simlec - I don't disagree, it looks a great basic panel, but I do like the Scanny iOn for wired jobs (i.e. all my jobs, I only use wireless for remotes and the like, which is 2 way) so seems silly to deviate from one brand, even if none of the bits are compatible between models!
  10. Yep I think you can't assume it's the ADT version just because of a Tyco label. Tyco logo is all over non-ADT Visonic web pages, data sheets, etc...
  11. I agree Scanny wireless is awful... ...but it doesn't remotely sound as if he wants anything wireless! Though I admit 9 (i.e. 10, as in Euro Mini) proper zones would be nicer, though again, who gets too fussed about shared mechanical PAs on a domestic bells only?
  12. Why not? Even the webby shouts it out, unlike many others who keep their ultimate ownership quiet, i.e. you won't find 'Mondelez' (Cadbury) on Green & Blacks bars.
  13. For me it would be 9561 - you get VERY good manuals in the box with these, proper printed ones, with pages that explain the concept of EOL, but Euro Mini has 10 zones giving you 1 PA per zone and one spare, have no idea how good or 'learner freindly' the manuals are though, never touched one. Premier 24 would also be a very good option though all manuals are online, and that's slightly fancier in the programming stakes. Galaxy is also an option, but, I would say least suitable for DIY newbie. All are good, basic, LCD, proper trade quality panels though, and deffo nothing OTT for your installation.
  14. Won't all parts have 'tyco' on though as ADT or not they still own Visonic?
  15. You still a Rolf Harris fan then?
  16. No I agree the alarm should be in the bin, But maybe not Pete. Not until at least 2020?
  17. Nah, the kids these days prefer to be sniffing cider and drinking glue.
  18. Yep there are plenty of choices, but the Accenta wouldn't be one of mine
  19. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/west_yorkshire/7687600.stm This is clearly made up. It's obvious this is a removed speed reduction chicane, and the contractors didn't want to do anything other than paint over the existing lines rather than risk not getting paid. It's a bit like when the gas workers dig up a street with yellow lines so faded you didn't know there even were any but paint shiny new ones over the 12" they dug up.
  20. I couldn't recommend any panel that only has a single tamper loop and/or no EOL if I'm honest, and it doesn't natively support LCD keypads either.
  21. OP, I really would forget the Accenta. It's TAT. A 9651EN or a Euro Mini (at a push a Gal - I would good panel but not so easy for DIY) would be far more similar to the Abacus, which at least was a professional panel.
