  1. What I would recommend is this - put BOTH White and Green in the same terminal (6 or 7 will do, this is just temporary), don't worry about putting the cover back on for now, and see if the alarm springs into life... Is the PIR (or any other PIR) lighting up with a red LED when you walk past them? Did they before today if not? If not then either it's the wrong colours for tamper, you have blown the fuse, of there is another break elsewhere. Let us know how you get on
  2. Yes, but it should take no more than 1-2 hours, and require no parts. It's obviously a one-time charge. I don't really know your panel that well - it's possible they won't have to reprogram at all, and can just reset the engineer codes to gain access to the menus and turn off the communicator. But to be fair you are still looking at a minimum charge, so won't make much difference to the cost. It's not 'their' data they will be putting in, just setting up the system, again as if it were only just taken out the box. The alarm will either refuse to set and/or make a tone / chirp / chime every now and then to alert you to a cut phone line. I wouldn't do it, if you can get someone in within the week then I would just live with an extra week or two's phone bill. I don't do 'digi' (telephone line) monitoring, but would suggest quite cheap though depends on what other 'services' you do or don't get for that fee.
  3. LOL! Well, yes, welcome, and not for the first time... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEWFigyE8R0
  4. It would be an easy matter to get virtually ANY other company in and 'crash' the system to remove the communications element. They will need to reprogram it from scratch, so if they quote 2 hours, that's not unreasonable. It would be a one-time charge (although we here at TSI would still recommend regular servicing. Well, we recommend monitoring too, but not from idiots!). It should be a labour only charge, they should not need to quote for any parts etc... if the system is only 18 months old.
  5. The first system I ever installed for a proper (I.e not mate or relative) customer in 97. I do wonder if the customer is still alive (and not because of my work!)
  6. Ah, so this is a wireless system. We had someone on here recently with an Everest system like this. Have a search. Appreciate you can't afford a new system, but depends if you can make savings on Sky TV, etc... We always say here, can you afford to be easily burgled again?
  7. And yet, a 7ah one! Amazed this panel was ever designed for it, but looks like it fits... I wonder if the partially covered up label says 'Bellweather Alarms - Important - This Alarm is at least 20 years out of date and should be replaced...'
  8. We can't give out codes or installer manuals in public, but it sounds as if you have those.... What sort of advice did you want? I assume this is an alarm already installed in a property. Have you just moved in etc...?
  9. I must admit this confounds me. If I can recognise that a wifi (or homeplug) item has lost connection - and yet a reboot gets it back straight away - why oh why oh why (dear BBC....) can't the item itself simply do that!?
  10. Trying to recall which panels I've used recently that supported Parallel value. Might have been SPC.
  11. That's my bet. No ancient Sky boxes to dial out as OP is on Virgin.
  12. Still, there is obviously a reason why the ComWifi seems a bit naff and doesn't appear to be quite as robust as the lan version.
  13. In printer mode I imagine it's looking for some sort of handshake / 'hello' from the printer which it won't get. In direct mode, is it not like any other alarm comms device in that you need to configure in the panel which events are transmitted (or not) Possibly also requires a cold restart if you change modes? Also have you got any other device you can either test the serial to USB cable with or anything with a 'real' serial port? All guesses as not a panel I use, but worth a try.
  14. And what's the make of your alarm system (or a picture)
  15. Thats fine, just a common issue. Do you get bills from BT for your phone line?
  16. The first thing to do is to ask, without giving anything away, what details they have for you regards keyholding, i.e. who, when and how they will call someone if the alarm goes off. Names, numbers, any restrictions on times when calling etc...
  17. I suspect the alarm is dialling out just fine, but that the keyholder details are wrong. This could, of course, be either parties fault...
  18. Yep they even give you 2.5 T+E clips to fix it!
  19. Cancelling DD - Suddenly not paying could be playing into their hands IF there is a contract in place (conversely keep on paying and you might be able to get a full refund if, as it seems, it has never worked, and you've kept telling them). Upgrading - I highly suspect it's a tactic to tie you into an even longer contract As for having to replace the panel to make it 'non communicating', this sounds like an utter lie, I can think of no such panel.
  20. Marketing is non existent though, so how will anyone know about it?
  21. I assume because the ComIP is made in UK, designed for commercial use, uses top quality components, ComWifi made in China, assume targeted at domestic use, not so mission critical, uses a commodity wifi module etc...
