Told you about our Gardtec replacement job before I'm sure. It was an alarm customer of the firm I used to work for, having some renovation works. Decorator loosened off the cistern in the downstairs WC, pretty much the last days work after many weeks and thousands of pounds worth. He tightens it back up again, and the couple go on a well deserved holiday. When they get back, they can literally see water through the bottom glass of the door (so they told us). The basement is literally now a water tank. The guy had tightened up the cistern too much, so at some point it cracked, allowing all the water to flow out the back, and meaning the overflow was useless yet the cistern valve would never shut off. We never did find out how much he got done for!

But don't be like the d**k I've been dealing with that blames his other half when the item ends at 99p and refuses to post unless I give him more money so it's 'at it's true value'. He didn't like it when I pointed out it was obsolete tat, his postage was criminal (but I would have paid it, it wasn't a surprise) and the very fact no other idiot bid showed it had indeed reached it's true value. Idiot. p.s OP top tip - make sure you don't list on your phone and it auto 'corrects' to Anusol!! -
What, like Xmas?

I would be amazed if they even had staff left that ever worked on that product line, I could be totally wrong but would be surprised if they even owned the development equipment to make even minor changes to the G4 code either.
-
Yep you're right. JW in your opinion would the spring be ok for a back box up to 45mm box plus extra skim depth?
-
I know but the exact same Scanny 'originals' can be had for about 35p each from the people I use!

A common misinterpretation of the guidelines. The 2 man rule only applied in the City of London, in any dwelling house over 1200 square feet, or where the amount of silverware expected to be lifted would be greater than one sackful.

Fook me, what a bargain! TWENTY, yes, TWENTY basic fobs for the bargain price of... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-Packs-of-5-Scantronic-Proximity-Tag-Scantronic-Prox-Fob-PROXTAGPK5-/162417193670?hash=item25d0d1b2c6:g:XnoAAOSwjDZYaOgo

Hmm, a second, longer spring would have been nice, you never know what's been fitted esp. if someone else is doing the 1st fix. Also I assume that tamper is just glued on? And as usual no 3rd terminal for a resistor

Have to say Im amazed the number of places Im getting 4G on my EE phone, where O2, who I thought were good for coverage, were only Gprs. (Its the same phone btw).
-
You trainspotter! OP, what did you replace them with? A quick sketch of the place with placement of the PIRs would help a lot.
-
Pretty much, this (ignore the 'Premier' bit, and ignore 'T' and 'A' just imagine the two terminals for each zone - and the Scantronic uses the same resistors which should be in the box) I'm pretty sure this is in the installers manual that's with the panel. With this you can ditch the common tamper and the extra pair of wires to each zone. Plus the panel will report tampers individually.

When you say 'walked into the hall', is there a magnetic sensor on the front door AND a PIR in the hallway? If so perhaps the magnetic sensor is stuck 'shut' so unable to put the hall sensor into access mode...? The PIR you've pictured looks ancient, I would change them all, and also consider location. Was the old keypad an oblong one with fairly large keys? They are notorious for the keypads key presses going hard to register, and people needing to put massive pressure on the keys. Did they replace it with the same, or a square one as came with your new PD kit? Either way, you now have a tamper wiring fault - somwhere. I would take this opportunity to change the PIRs and convert wiring to EOL.
-
Right... I think we all expected to see a pic of an ancient 9100 or something. When you say, 'going off randomly', so you mean, without anything being displayed on the screen, or are we talking false alarms here? If so, changing the panel won't help, and in a slightly more definitive answer to your original question, for reasons unknown the original installation uses a common tamper, i.e. one massive tamper loop for all the detectors. Right now, you have a tamper on any one of the devices or wiring fault causing the global (CC) tamper. It really should have used EOL type wiring, so any faults on each zone are shown as being only on that zone. It requires 2 resistors at each detector (modern devices have them built in a lot of the time) and saves a lot of headaches, as well as only needing 2 wires for each zone. So, can you let us know exactly what the previous problem was?
-
You need to look at Option 21. I assume you have a global tamper - or have you rewired for EOL? If you've re-wired for EOL at each detector (highly recommended), you need to set option 21 to 'FSL', NOT 'COM CC' If you have kept one, single large tamper loop (this was your opportunity to do away with it!) then you have a fault within that loop. You will need to separate each pair of wires and check with a meter individually.

Hi there, Welcome to TSI. You'll need at least 5 useful posts before the PM system becomes available to you. If you're in the trade, search for our trade approval process, there is a lot more in our trade section and more chance of being seen by a relevant contractor.

Use the speaker, it's what it's for.
-
No, it's ancilliary equipment, but I'd if its Grade 3 its likely to be policed and if jimmy burglar wants to make it a confirmed by batting off a speaker he's welcome

Oh. I think we were all thinking SW?

Spoilsport.

I think we can settle this in a sensible, adult way. Lets sit down for a drink and discuss it. You f' coffee?

No he wasn't, he was a s**t luser as always!
