TBF not as such, I suppose I was thinking of keypads etc... displaying status but ultimately what lamps etc... the installer connects to outputs is up to them.
Weren't Abel going to have a colour changing logo on their stainless bell once, but regs changed and they didn't? Or did they think regs would state they would
HAVE to show confirmed etc... externally?
Yes I'm surprised that's allowed post PD6662 but they seem to do it even now, certainly the new carphone warehouse kiosk near us built about 18 months ago does.
Newer strobes have a 24 hr guarantee which was brought in under the Sorry We Can't Attend Right Now, All Units Are Utilised Act 2015. Quote this and I guarantee you'll get a Distinction.
You can still buy this model, Scantronic are now owned by Eaton, they still use 'Scantronic' but badge 'low end' models as 'Eaton' now, such as the 9448 and i-On 16
However, your best bet would be to buy a Scantronic 9651, as you'll gain an LCD (separate) keypad, and it comes with full instructions.
If you must I guess OpenTAP is the better option as you'll soon get to hear about any system problems or service withdrawl via their web page... but will it be too late!?
You don't
BT supports only the far superior ETSI protocol which for some odd reason panel manufactures don't appear to use, but most consumer DECT phones and the Siemens SPC panel do.
Edit - and HKC it would seem...
But if you must use TAP this service no longer requires registration (never used it mind)
https://www.open-telecom.co.uk/cms/products-services/opentap-tap-to-sms-email-gateway-service-provider/
Hats off to SPC, they use ETSI, not the terrible TAP - ETSI is actively supported by BT and the texts are sent and arrive in approx 2 seconds, even on an ADSL line.
I can't work out why other manufacturers don't use this format??
If the display is showing bobbins, the chances are it may 'go off' at any time and for any reason.
So you have nothing to lose by trying a user code for one.
I have seen this before when there has been a break on the 'clock' line I think, it might be worth re-booting the whole system from cold,
and checking the connections at each end before you do so.
I take it you have the engineer code?
Sorry I got the idea this was a battery powered alarm for a shed or similar, the Bentley is very basic and probably not for you if not.
The Optima is very simple and I assume has a built in speaker, i.e a low volume sounder, and yes it has space for battery backup.
I would still recommend an external siren such as the AG6
By the keypad, yes, this is true - and I the Gal ain't exactly intuitive!
There are 2 systems I have installed that I'd never contemplate via the RKP alone, thats Premier and SPC (tbf with the SPC a lot is not even available via the RKP)
The i-On I'd hate to do via RKP but the 'mobile phone' style structure makes it just about palatable...
Right.. so you have got the engineer code. Well, you'll need to find a manual, start again as if it were a new system, and let us know when you get stuck. Just reply on this same thread.
The engineer can of course be anyone, but, you'll need to find an installation manual to find out how to reset the system. Unfortunately we don't give that info out here, nor engineer manuals, but if you do figure it out there are a few Risco fans on here that could probably help you once you have your own engineer code.
