  1. Even if you do have business insurance (i.e. Direct Line) it possibly won't cover you for someone elses business as an employee... They sound like a right bunch of chancing ****s to be honest.
  2. OP - have deleted your post as it simply asked for help again and included an email address. People are trying to help you - can you answer the questions above?
  3. It's getting pretty long in the tooth now though, I don't think it's been updated in a long time, even the one I bought was still talking about tone carrier signalling!
  4. Have often argued a 'proper' £50 bellbox is a better investment than a £99 s**t system kit, still rubbish but at least you're not just burning money...
  5. The Home Monitor is still usable (they sold the rights for monitoring to a 3rd party) but is a very old, basic Visonic based panel AFAIK And it uses a digi/modem so it's long term future is bleak, plus the monthly charges are not cheap for a very basic 'self monitor' system. You can get them on ebay for pennies new as BT dumped all the stock, so it's basically worthless to boot. I don't believe you can buy Texecom at B+Q, so must be another product. If you are thinking about insurance, be aware that it must be installed by an NSI / SSAIB approved company and any insurance discount may be negligible, plus the issue that you will then be responsible for setting it every time you leave the house or risk insurance being invalid. I would be looking for a quote to replace the control box and renew PIRs if it's that old, if you want to stick with Texecom then the Elite series is probably more what you should be considering.
  6. I have customers with 15 year old systems, but regularly take out 'nearly new' year old sparky and DIY systems... It's worth it in the long run.
  7. I would also the heart of a good system is design and placement and that is rarely seen even in the most 'neatly' installed DIY. Again it only comes with experience and learning, its the biggest downfall of DIY installations I see. Give you an example, I went to a job last week where the sparky had disappeared, new sparks didn't want to take on the alarm so called me in. The sparky had put the keypad at the absolute furthest point from the main door, so every single detector would have to have been on access, plus no coverage to the kitchenette where the system itself was, so easy pickings. Both major design flaws, even though his cable routes and proposed use of a Texecom Elite were perfect
  8. No screws, just rawlplugs... Assume all inc. keypad comes with those 3M 'command' glue pads then?!
  9. Yes, you need 5 posts to send or receive private mails (PMs) and you can also at that point apply for Trade membership. Please read this before applying - http://www.thesecurityinstaller.co.uk/forum-trade-access.html Please also DON'T post emails or contact information in any job adverts etc... Oh, and welcome to the site!
  10. This only showing after logging in IS correct behaviour on some EN and all PD models. Otherwise it would reveal a mains failure which could be of advantage to an intruder.
  11. I have had to bin a 9651 ++PD++ due to it going gaga. Exactly the same sorts of odd things happening as you mention, with no resolution even after a factory restart. If you are up to DIY, and do not have any kind of insurance requirement I can quite frankly recommend you replace with a 9651EN or even a 9651UK (the previous model(s)) At least this would be a main PCB only exchange, same keypads, case, wiring in the same place etc...
  12. Texe can be either wired or wireless siren, and also optional 4 hardwired zones on the basic model. Its a very flexible panel like that, and definitely 'pro' spec gear.
  13. Its a bit 'how long is a piece of string' to be honest. You never know what external influences could suddenly turn up (next door radio enthusiast, 4G, 5G) to ruin your day, wireless wise. I've even had sites where signal strength was ruined in the winter due to thick basement walls taking on water.
  14. I did see some once - http://www.riscogroup.com/products/product/7821 TMP is Tamper, yes. I know nothing about Risco otherwise, used to fit Gardtec 816 but that all stopped approx 2002!
  15. From the simple point of no batts to change, and if the wire is already in, great performing DTs at half the price of wireless ones, it's cable for me when I can.
  16. Suspect you need to connect GND to TMP at the panel end with a short length of wire? No refunds for broken panels mind, but highly suspect that is the issue. It may or may not need to be a resistor rather than plain link but doubt it.
  17. Has it been OK before then? You've defaulted the panel since it was first installed if I understand correctly too?
  18. We are unable to discuss defaulting on the public side of the forum, sorry.
  19. We appear to be going round in circles on this topic. The exploits discussed here are widely available to be viewed on much more popular sites. Customers with a need for high security will already have their own IT experts (in theory) securing the network. If not, frankly that is their poor decision, not their 'physical' security suppliers, as most here will sell with a disclaimer re: open or remote access. Any business here who this sold this exact equipment* (very few, if any I would say) will of course have raised this issue with customers. It is highly unlikely this forum is a used or useful site for criminal activity. *Although I appreciate it's pretty much a universal problem, to varying degrees
