  1. I don't know about the port forwarding, but Homehubs generally are VERY flakey about showing connected items, even when they work. My parents have one at the moment since they have only just upgraded to Infinity, and both their network printers are completely invisible on the 'map' (but both work perfectly). I assume you have set a fixed IP on the CCTV system and can browse to it locally?
  2. People want the best cars, the most expensive phone, the 'top' sky package... But £70 on security? Pffft - forget that!
  3. Better take it up with the ICO then - it's very clearly laid out on the 'domestic CCTV' section of their website.
  4. In a nutshell, expect a bill if you mess about. And, yes, sounds very much like the scanny homelink where it could take a (single?) 46xx wireless device as an intruder alarm add-on. The 'code' for turning on or off the alarm was holding down a single button on the control station with a long press IIRC. It's a scanny universal 2 zone 7xx wireless RX rather than an expander as such (good luck with the future supplies of that - seems ripe for obsolescence) so makes sense. Perhaps they have cobbled together their own hybrid panel for whatever reason.
  5. Any time public space is included, even if it is a small overlap i.e pavement in front of garden, the domestic total exemption no longer applies.
  6. I thought i had it all, cant remember that...
  7. Lol, have you noticed how nearly every recipient of his funny phone calls is dead?
  8. My tip is always to use the box from a PIR (how apt!) or something, remember to turn it round as a junction box 'advertising' a Lyntek Supra6 PIR might look suspicious. Never use the brown cardboard from the panel unless the lighting is poor or the client is blind, or it's 4pm and you are in a hurry to get to the pub.
  9. i tend use use a bit of cut off cardboard held in place with a squirt of decorators caulk, with fussier clients.
  10. Yes, it's ace the way the e-line is one whole family of detectors, so you can put the dearest to the cheapest on the same backplate.
  11. It will very soon, although have admitted enforcement will be few and far between at this stage.
  12. Must admit I originally read the spec, probably wrongly, interpreting 'previously we used separate clock in systems' as "we have abandoned clocking in". If you still want complete clocking / T+A then, 'proper' access is the way to go. And def. worth a chat with Pete above, either way.
  13. Welcome! Yes, I would imagine there are advantages to ADT too like if the surveyor totally underquotes the job, it won't affect the quality of the finished installation as the guys are getting paid whatever, or perhaps I am being naive.
  14. As I have said before, this is a common and known fault with this panel. It will only be hours / days / weeks before it fails again either in the middle of the night or during a power fail, especially if the battery is knackered. It is likely only the live power on the panel that is currently sustaining the NVM, or as it current is VVM, Very Volatile Memory. At the very minimum a new battery and 24C16/M24C16-WBN6P DIP-8 Serial I²C Bus EEPROM is required.
  15. Yes agreed on that, if time and attendence is a crucial thing; or if you just want to retrospectively look up the occasional arrival time of someone you think is taking the p**s will be a big factor in your choice.
  16. I would add that it sounds very much to me like you need a new battery, too. Even if it was OK, if it has been drained pancake flat, it may never recover.
  17. Yes, forgot that, soz. But does it support online editing of users via a local www browser?
  18. Yes it's a one wire I2C EEPROM chip, obsolete but freely available on the secondary market for a reasonable price.
  19. No test required, NVM failures that presented like this were very common on this panel, even in its heyday, power fail or not - but often after a complete loss. I can only assume there was a design issue on this panel that meant the NVM IC was either overvoltage or written to far more than was really needed or recommended by the IC manf.
  20. Texecom will do that, also Siemens / Vanderbilt SPC. I don't know much about the Texe options but can confirm the Vanderbilt has 'proper' door access type options and setup, it's not just an afterthought add-on to an intruder alarm, also there are a choice of door readers and these are taken from the same range as Vanderbilts 'standalone' access products. Also the SPC has a proper 'door controller' module, though I think the Texe now does too, so you can localise connections. For a single door with that few employees, Scantronic iON would also do it although with far less flexibility over differentiating 'door' and 'alarm' users, but does have an handy built in IP server to manage the users like the Vanderbilt SPC - for the Texecom this is an option. I don't know what stage your building is at but these things really do need to be considered very early on if possible. I assume you're based in Sussex?
  21. Yes using FreePBX to do the whole lot, and running it all on a Raspberry pi. The new ones are so relatively powerful you can make 10 simultaneous SIP calls give or take, it also takes a USB dongle so I now pay nothing to forward to giffgaff. So impressed I'm considering selling them, making the money on the customisation and maint etc...
  22. But in this case sounds like the old disappearing NVM issue. I think more likely the NVM has been dead for years but by fluke the panel has always had either mains or just enough battery until now....
