  1. We may well be, I work for a Scottish firm so most likely.
  2. We do install a lot in new builds but not often via house builder expect one house builder does get commission if they get they can get home owner to get alarm fitted which I think works well however our sales team go and target the new homes after a few weeks of people moving in. Which most people do welcome alarm just to feel safer as if you talk about all there new gadgets and how you don't really know your neighbours and how burglar more likely to rob a house without alarm. Yea most people do expect Wireless Alarms and I understand that with a new house but again most new houses you can't paint or put much on wall as you need allow the house to settle. Adding Circuits - We are like other poster, We get our sparks to come in add a circuit and try get any extra jobs while at it from customer but i unsure what actual rule is as I know company policy is I am not allowed to touch electrics on any property and I must call our sparks however our sparks work for same company so I think its just insurance but I can image it be law as you don't want 'Dodgy Alarm Fitter who thinks he knows what he doing and burns down a house'
  3. We only supply & install the equipment however on occasions the technology does not work and we may not be able to help her as it could be a third party fault. However as soon she got this other router it worked perfectly.
  4. I know your feeling but I spend about 4 hours at a property trying to get it working before saying 'Its your router' Speak to your provider.
  5. For my one it was the router causing the problem as the router just point blank refused to show anything in the port.
  6. Could you not talk to TalkTalk well maybe NoTalkNoTalk. One my SME clients have TalkTalk Biz Account and she can't use our Remote CCTV system with TalkTalk Router but can use it if she plugged in there 'Advanced Router' which is why she raising a complaint for it. But its something to do with trying to get Username and Password for the network which TalkTalk don't like giving as that mean people could use there own routers which TalkTalk could not remotely control.
  7. Ah, I wonder maybe thats why response team have SIA for the 'Response Centre' I take it you need sia for monitoring alarms.
  8. How are you not safe from SIA, I know our response team need SIA Licence for some reason. again not my area of expertise
  9. I don't think you need SIA licence to install CCTV but to Watch if your not paid directly by company you need a SIA Licence. I must admit I spend most my days installing CCTV system to companies which many are just updating their systems from older systems. I do have to laugh at some comments like today I had one which said 'Client asked for Camera in Changing Room. DO NOT INSTALL CAMERA IN CHANGING ROOM'
  10. I think my company got loads of BS certificates. Our work can be inspected at random by some Standards guy and we been pulled up for not using enough or not enough cable clips to which they are THAT fussy. When I say I think, I know our paper works has loads of BS XXXX and BS XXXX I know we have a Investor in People. Unsure what that is but thats on all the Group stuff
  11. We had issues at first as people thought SSAIB badge was like SIA but once we educated them and explained we setting our own high standards people soon understand
  12. Just do what our company do and refuse to be part them. Have we saw work dry up? = No, we actully got busier i say. As engineers we still are expected to meet same standards but we just can't display logos. I have heard SSAIB have begged them to join again thou
  13. I must admit I have saw these sort of things happen example is a Well Known Department Store always calls us as there Fire Door always used to open at random points. My method is that it was due to it was wood, We since fitted new doors and now never get calls. The staff used to blame the Ghost of the old Shop Manager who is known for moving displays and etc.
  14. I have to go to a Regular Haunt in a Army Office. Always have to work after 5pm and I am sure that place is haunted as I keep hearing feet noises on the floor above and when I ask if I was the only person their they say yes, However I just say 'Oh they must been playing about' and few other contractors and staff have said that funny things do happen when they are working like filing cabinets in middle of floors and chairs just moving.
  15. Most Scary thing I ever saw was in my Trainee Monkey Days A*T trainee. We were at a Old mental Hospital being converted into a Posh Spa and Hotel, So we were taking out the Old Alarms and fitting new ones. During this we had a Onsite Security and that morning when going in as normal there was the Area Manager in Cabin looking like he saw a ghost and they never said nothing. Until 9 weeks later when doing a walk thru to check all the alarms are working and all I saw was pair of Ladders fly across one side of a room. I thought oh must be one the plasters or etc trying scare me however found out everyone left apart from us to do the Walkthru. I did ask the site foremen who explained that that area was for the mentally insane and that there was a fire in the 1930s who killed 6 people and they apartly haunt the land. We then found out that the Security Guards did see a ghost and the guard swore never to return to that site and never talks about what he saw. The site has now been knocked down due to the Spa & Hotel closed down due to it was too active and is 5 a side pitches & Leisure centre is going there. However I sworn I never ever go back there!
