Yeah i I see that deal in my local gardiners security. Was the 4mp fixed lens ones and had a Hik Dvr on offer too. Would Just like to say thank you for the help from everyone. It's very much appreciated.

mate. Did not even consider the noise of the fan. Cables run via the spare bedroom so nvr could go in there. I keep this on me at all times just in case I encounter any miscreants

I don't want the cameras to be obstructed by the barbed wire or manned watch tower. Do you know any good moat digging companies???

Thanks for the reply guys. Point noted on the height. Does camera number 1 seem like a reasonable height. It's high enough that it can't be reached. I will think of alternate positions for the other two. Could maybe bring 3 down to match the height of 1 to the right of the porch to cover the drive. Sixwheeledbeast is there any other brands you recommend. I have access to trade accounts at suppliers so can get most stuff.

Afternoon guys. Was as after a little bit of help from the all knowing folks of the forum. I'm going to install some Cctv on my house and had a few questions about placement. I'm going to use Hik 4mp ip Cctv cameras and fit a Poe Hik nvr next to my router behind my TV. Would this be ok or can anyone recommend any alternatives. Also im having a problem with placement of the cameras. iv attached a picture to show where I was thinking of putting some of the cameras. 1 is to cover front of house and front door. 2 to view the drive and garage and 3 to cover side of house. Any my help ,suggestions or guidance would be much appreciated.

Afternoon all. Sorry if this has been asked before but what is the legal requirements with regards to cctv viewing and the backup of cctv data. Is a sia licence required by a engineer if viewing or backing up cctv in commercial buildings.The reason I ask is because Most of my companies work is in health centres/council buildings and a new building manager on one of the sites says we need the licence to carry out the works.

Not sure the op will listen but I work with several people who have all started their own companies in the past and they all have ended up coming back to be either employed or as subbies. One had quite a big company with 400 plus contracts and now he's back as a subbie past retirement age lugging ladders about with a bad back. I think it's a lot harder than people realise.

Argos was selling Yale alarms for 25 quid last week so iv got 10 of those and some sticks like sh!t to fit everything up with. I think I'm good to go.

I would also like some advice. I have just purchased a new set of drivers from pound land and have some cutters and tape. Do you guys think I'm ready to go it alone.

What's worse is they fitted it after I put in my alarm and we had my girlfriends sister staying to house sit and she barricaded herself in the bedroom because she thought the beeps were someone using a remote to tamper with our alarm. She kept setting and unsettling our one haha.

This alarm has become my nemesis. My next door neighbours have fitted one and because the bell is the panel it beeps every time they set and unset it. Which is normally about midnight and 5 am. That's without the random beeps throughout the day.

guys. Galaxy's are one of the main panels we use in health centres etc and i really like them. the worse thing about my company using the same makes of panels all the time is you don't get to find out much about what else is out there. Gonna go the hybrid route I think. Managed to fish wires through most of the walls fairly easily with only a few tiny holes.

Just wondered what everyone's opinions were on wireless alarms and which they think are the best in terms of price and quality. My company always fit the visonic ranges and its only since joining these forums I realised that they are not highly regarded by the other professional installers on here(due to being one way). I'm now starting to think my company choose the visonic range because the kits are cheap and so easy to install. I have just moved into my new property and im going to bell it up and was wondering what people could recommend both wireless and wired. My knowledge base is only what iv used at work and you guys have a much wider knowledge range and experience than myself.

Just a quick hello to the community. I am a service/install engineer for a company based mainly in essex and London. Most of my work is in nhs/mental health hospitals and council buildings. Been doing it for 12 years and genuinely enjoy working in the industry. My company are rather stingy when it comes to paying for training so I'm constantly trying to learn and better myself and have self funded several courses to give me a better knowledge base.
