  1. Agreed its a good idea to have something that doesn't work as long as its cheap
  2. as I said wire it correctly and it will function, but you need a latching sensor in one place to know which one triggers. Best way is to have a panel that has enough inputs for your detectors. Also get builders to build, get an alarm specialist to do alarms.
  3. no don't wire it as it was, id guess its wired parallel. I reakon if you recoonect it and disconnect the other one that one will work. Get someone that knows what they are doing as by the sounds you have had 2 sensors unable to work for 20 years! yes but wouldn't of worked on a break in. A false sense of security is worse than no security
  4. probably best to start a new topic on it optional extra
  5. yes wire it in correctly. and use a latching sensor.
  6. so zone 4 used to indicate. When did you last walk test it succesfully Ok id say they have never worked then.
  7. there shouldn't be 2 pirs on the same zone so id guess the person that did it didn't know much and then wired them in parallel?
  8. Following on from another thread I will post these pics in the mean time till I connect it up to a panel https://www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/catalog/elmdene-flush-mounted-stainless-steel-16-ohm-extension-speaker-p-5054.html
  9. to be fair we don't know. The service co might we'll be correct and its lost in translation. I cant think what single tap might be though without a bit more detail
  10. yes as above 4g can be an issue, but id be looking at proving the panel with a test system to check it occurs in both panels and yes don't disable jam detect. I have had a 1070 with an aerial fault cause supervision issues. Had to replace the board.
  11. also when you say 'preventing a reset' what needs resetting is what is displayed etc
