agreed. Are the cameras cybersecure. who is liable if your kit causes a breach.
would you allow someone you dont know to connect equipment to your lan
also IT are then involved in the privacy issues of 3rd parties they have no control over viewing the cameras.
Why would an installer need access to live views?
if the wireless is good (not many are) then by all means consider, however if you can get a wire there you should.
If the existing wiring is up to it then i would definetly reuse it
its 12v nominal, the optima will usually output a little high (upto 14v) but nothing to wory about.
The reason for the cross coulours on the door contact is that a pair is alarm, and the other pair is tamper.
Its not red and black for power that will break it.
agreed it should be 13.8v that panel is usually high so it sounds like lack of maintenance has killed it
sensors etc need >12v to work, so 7v things won't be able to function
id guess there is a lot of blackened area above the keypad on the caseing
The optima range is obsolete and out of support the optima xm is long long obsolete.
With your new battery connected what is the voltage accross the batt terminals?
You 'could' use a pc blue blue iris or zoneminder but dont expect the uptime of a dedicated NVR
most decent dvr's are hybrid and can support analogue and IP but id suggest using an NVR for IP cameras with POE outputs
Personally i dislike HIK also their cheap stuff is IMO awful but then all cheap stuff is I suppose
You can download ff fixed versions. I use that for really old stuff.
Dm went bust because people didn't buy it. Maybe if you and others upgraded that wouldn't of happened.
But still you need a new dvr imo
Is start by connecting direct to the unit remove all the complication of using routers as additional access points.
I'm assuming it's an old unit for the cost vs hassle I'd get a new machine especially for Improved image qualoty
However what browser are you using?
Also do you gave the old client software
And what OS are you using
Alarm companies carry the liability for your system, thats why its locked. If you waive this then you may find a company that will allow it.
Bear in mind you could change something that you think is a good idea that could prevent correct operation or make it non compliant.
Thats a bit like, best car, best pc, best phone etc everyone has their preferences.
Control equipment wise I like HKC and vanderbilt depending on application and software power required
As 6 you still have a tamper fault. the word fault is wrong here as you caused the tamper by opening parts.
Once all faults/errors are clear it will reset.
