  1. You 'could' use a pc blue blue iris or zoneminder but dont expect the uptime of a dedicated NVR most decent dvr's are hybrid and can support analogue and IP but id suggest using an NVR for IP cameras with POE outputs Personally i dislike HIK also their cheap stuff is IMO awful but then all cheap stuff is I suppose
  2. I'd of thought you could just pull up or down the lf input?
  3. As Pete when did you last service it. That will give us a heads up aa to how cared for it is and what state its in
  4. You can download ff fixed versions. I use that for really old stuff. Dm went bust because people didn't buy it. Maybe if you and others upgraded that wouldn't of happened. But still you need a new dvr imo
  5. As 6 pull everything and tin a local keypad. If that fails then get something better
  6. Is start by connecting direct to the unit remove all the complication of using routers as additional access points. I'm assuming it's an old unit for the cost vs hassle I'd get a new machine especially for Improved image qualoty However what browser are you using? Also do you gave the old client software And what OS are you using
  7. Alarm companies carry the liability for your system, thats why its locked. If you waive this then you may find a company that will allow it. Bear in mind you could change something that you think is a good idea that could prevent correct operation or make it non compliant.
  8. Thats a bit like, best car, best pc, best phone etc everyone has their preferences. Control equipment wise I like HKC and vanderbilt depending on application and software power required
  9. popular or any good? Its a serious question because just because something is popular doesnt mean its any good, most popular is usually the cheapest
  10. RINS1418-1 MC1-WE (securitywarehouse.co.uk) wire it as shown
  11. Dont use it but you could use a standalone tx and a wired pa button
  12. looks like a diy job is there power to the cameras?
  13. dont know the system you are talking about is it some chinese ebay special? also some devices need a 2g only sim.
  14. As 6 you still have a tamper fault. the word fault is wrong here as you caused the tamper by opening parts. Once all faults/errors are clear it will reset.
  15. Nothing wrong with adt at all. However people spend more on coffee beer or fags than they do their security Perhaps we should swap, whatever someone does for what we do. Or we could strike maybe Noone will notice that either
  16. most 'smart' systems are easily disabled. a pro company is not likely or permitted to use a non compliant product that would expose them to a failure to perform claim from yourself or your insurer. approved systems are secure and compliant, allowing 3rd control from unapproved and it most cases insecure systems isn't something I would do or recommend anyone do even DIY. people would use a lock made of plastic but seem not to care about the security of their electronic protection, this can be seen by the horrible stuff we all see out there. im a big supporter of home automation but most people want it free so there is little business case to make product fir that market this will change imo
  17. We would normally use access control for this, smart locks are an option but are more aimed at DIY use than Pro security providers
  18. Everyone assumes there is a code that kills systems. The golden burgler code. Its not yale it wont be easy to kill. If you want a security system that is easy to defeat keep looking away from our stuff
  19. It's not the 22nd Christmas but happy this one to all.
  20. I believe there has been issues with accredited installers and the regulators. I know the SSAIB have failed certain installs. I am in talks with the NSI about their response.
  21. Ideally you want a native integration. Also what's the security of your automation system like
