  1. id assume the internal bell is connected to the external and isnt a speaker. Id go with a tamper on one of them but would need to see pics of how its wired
  2. Bt are changing from pstn so I'm expecting lots of issues with older communicators that use pstn
  3. yes disable line fault monitoring. Its going to be more of an issue with BT killing pstn lines. Im sure we will see more of it on here soon. Who could of predicted it...
  4. Old topic but ********** on the keypad mean they keypad isnt communicating with a panel, for whatever reason. In this case looks like a dud panel was bought, but on a previously working system its a data problem (cable)
  5. The card held function is something I'd like to see from other manufacturers. Prevents false alarms by people who are not trained on using the system. If you can't set it, you can't set it off
  6. please create a topic for each issue
  7. no thats different in the dd243 / bs8243 setting change restric keypad. By default in the UK your not permitted to unset with a pin code 'if' using prox fobs
  8. thats not a bug its a default feature. Its an option.
  9. As H says may as well use his forum then. Do you want honest views from security professionals or some bloke with a YouTube channel. I'm assuming the former or you would be commenting on his channel and making him some cash on views vs being here.
  10. Yes proper monitoring will be polled depending on the grade etc Anywhere from every few seconds to once a day. I would always use a panel to connect your detectors to, you need something to arm disarm, power supply battery monitoring logs etc etc
  11. Have you taken the keypad closer to the panel?
  12. try the above before reenrolling. Just because its been working for x years doesnt mean it will never stop. Imagine saying to the garage that their cant be anything wrong with your car that just broke down after 6 yrs of trouble free use
  13. I would always connect your detectors to a control panel then the panel to the dialler. Yes gsm diallers do exist but alarm pros would use a monitored path device not a dialler
  14. prove a range issue by taking the device to the panel. Have had local interference affect devices in the past
  15. your not covered Also a panel can be defaulted etc when its got a support contract on it, reprogrammed and the maintainer has all the liability without any control of how its programmed. I do agree that systems (all programmable devices) should be defaulted on maintainer change. As above this can be foc or a site visit. I suppose its similar with locked phones. An installer has invested in training, support and even how to make x work with y. That information and knowledge belongs to that person/company. The bit of kit belongs to whoever bought it and can be used how they see fit. A lot of equipment now also has other passwords, security questions etc stored in it, remote codes all sorts. All this needs defaulting once the maintainer has lost control of it.
  16. I have tested extreme range of this, on a farm environment it was about 1km. At the time wish I had the powered mesh unit in theory I could of got 8, I will at some point do range testing on the leading manufacturers, but that needs a beach to be fair
  17. Its better to lock to protect the company and insurer etc. Plus the programming belongs to the maintainer. eg SIA lock all but do default on request. If the ex client doesnt want to pay for the default, boards are defaulted foc at the office. Issues with gear is how they are programmed, passwords used in onvif, how systems are setup etc. Plus incoming company should always default to know it is programmed to their requirements with the client that may have changed. Had a conversation recently regarding this and there is the potential for liability issues for the outgoing company 'if' the incoming company can prove they didnt change xyz option. Always better to default on leaving and incoming
  18. Agreed that's how I did pre sharpie that would of helped loads
  19. That and foil I remember doing that as a 14 Yr old
  20. For the sla battery of early sab
  21. Sorry OP Ive never worked on a DSC system However it sounds like it configured to only talk to its previous panel which is obviously unavailable. Id assume there is a reset procedure that may require the old keypad to program the 'new old' one in
  22. I doubt Pete would give me the keys to the ferrari, or the Merc I'd be lucky to get one of the yaris or a too big van
  23. no the dumpbox was for classics. It may work on smaller panels though ive never tried you use the keypad with the spi keys though
  24. onto a SPI key?
