  1. My remarks to Admin also apply equally to yourself Norman.
  2. The operative word here is 'probably'. Please stick with us, I hope Dave opts for something from Security Warehouse.
  3. Dave, it it's new, as suggested, then it carries a guarantee. as far as description is concerned you have a case on ebay because the item wasn't as described..if ever you need to use it. Why not send it back and go to one of the wholesalers for 'the real thing' ?
  4. "..no they do trace it and prosecute.." So it can be traced then and logically one would assume through a number on the pcb (post 10 above)
  5. Good calls everyone, would still like to hear some answers from Dave though before this one starts getting out of hand again.
  6. Basic question, is your server down as in 'help my broadband's not working'? I assume you are connecting cctv to the server via, on the first count, a dvr. What are the specs in relation to compatibility? and Admin2 has a very relevant question "...can you connect to the cctv locally?..."
  7. Where did you buy it from Dave, there may be a few numbers on the board which the site experts could use to determine it's age etc. I had a line fail problem on a Abacus not so long back solved it by linking up to the telephone system. It looks like a unit that has been removed from a property if this is anything to go by:- "...Also (on my classic it used to say something like Manager Reset Required) now its saying "Call Alarm Co. Quote Code xxxxx....". So, it's obviously an ADT panel..we don't know it's age..Don't know where it was bought..Don't know if it's stolen and so on. Well done though for diving in at the deep end with ethernet, iro's and so on using a panel which often dumbfounds the common or garden installer. Give us some history... Have you bench tested the panel (usually the first job), where it's bought from etc...
  8. Didn't read through the posts again !! should point out that if you are removing the panel loop the cable from the battery through the same hole as the warning device connections. In that way you can simply remove the sounder cable with the hold off intact..it's easier..and less noisy. What's the replacement panel?
  9. I'm not regarded as the 'main runner' in this field, but I would guess (working on lower end equipment) that you have a faulty device, disconnect to only the bare minimum and test again.
  10. Thanks Admin2, that's sorted that out.
  11. I think he's going to eat Terry !!
  12. I'm puzzled, you are not because you're experts..but what sort of assesment can be done with cctv regardless of the premises, surely it's just using a high degree of common sense as far as layout is concerned ?
  13. Bang on target again Al-yeti (correct as usual)...and I was only kidding (in another post) about you plotting Goncall's downfall
  14. Yes, but make sure the battery is charged. Personally, I loop a cable through a hole in the rear of the panel, place the battery on the floor and connect pos and neg from the battery to the hold off cables.
  15. We could even have a forum just using telepathy.
  16. Well said, PetrolHead, it could do with it.
  17. Work according to Amp's experience then, just bin it and replace..if they don't want to replace then they can call another engineer, that's not going to break you..That said, I have quite a bit of Europlex info here.
  18. Couldn't agree more with DataDiffusion and Rulland..comments are accurate..However, there is no need to spend a small fortune on a good security system.. it's the way it's installed and set up for most, if not all eventualities.that counts. If the OP is genuine then I would have no qualms about helping him out, but there is a vital point here from Admin2 "...we wont, im sure your genuine but your asking how to kill a system in public area..."
  19. Well Snap Dufbeer ! I currently have at least a dozen books on The EU. You know what I think ? I couldn't give a Monkeys what they say and the quicker we leave that 'jobs for the boys' crew the better. Then we can start cleaning up our own career politicians and their jolly boys outing 'opening of parliament' and a few thousand other problems besetting this island...But you still haven't made it absolutely plain and clear...can I use my camcorder with audio where and whenver ? Time for some straight forward answers I think.
  20. ".... its already possible just that nobody has the bottle to suggest it...." Commercially it would only be suggested if there are vast profits to be made..should imagine that quite a few multinationals are keeping a close eye. I dread to think what this technology would be capable of in the wrong hands...terrorists and the career politicians would not be too pleased knowing that 'you know what they know'!
  21. Agreed Petrolhead, but I really don't think he should mess with it at all, just leave it where it is and install a basic hard wired to cover the rear..
  22. Do you mean the Europlex Verifier ?
  23. Downpower and change the battery ..see post 5... After that, if you are still not happy, adjust the volume.
  24. "....Saying all of that, maybe the ICO will introduce an easier and cheaper option.." A goverment department handing out 'CHEAPER options'.... Never known that to happen in my entire life.
