  1. Hello Galaxy Guy, I think some allow their software to be downloaded and then licenced to the user whilst others are only on a sale basis (could be wrong..).
  2. Technology moves on I suppose, but I doubt if any self respecting company would just go ahead and change a perfectly working id system. Don't know much about the biscuits..if they are numbered or whatever, can't they be sorted according to the panels or systems they are supposed to work with ?
  3. Bang on target again Al-yeti (correct as usual)...and I was only kidding (in another post) about you plotting Goncall's downfall
  4. Well Snap Dufbeer ! I currently have at least a dozen books on The EU. You know what I think ? I couldn't give a Monkeys what they say and the quicker we leave that 'jobs for the boys' crew the better. Then we can start cleaning up our own career politicians and their jolly boys outing 'opening of parliament' and a few thousand other problems besetting this island...But you still haven't made it absolutely plain and clear...can I use my camcorder with audio where and whenver ? Time for some straight forward answers I think.
  5. "....Saying all of that, maybe the ICO will introduce an easier and cheaper option.." A goverment department handing out 'CHEAPER options'.... Never known that to happen in my entire life.
  6. I should imagine the changes would be on their website duffbeer. I'm still saving my sheckels for the 'licence to view' though. No smoke without fire as they say, so for my own part I believe there is a lot in what the site experts say or suggest..can't afford to be without my camcorder.
  7. Datafussion, Is this a cradled eeprom on this panel or does he need to get the soldering iron out ?
  8. "....ive had that exact happen, got know where with it..." I know exactly what you mean, although there have been several times in the past when I almost succumbed to ' taking the law..' as it were.
  9. They (them that do govern) only need a chance and I'm paying an invisible tax, yet another one. Audio next to a Master Bedroom, views of the same neighbour, pointing a camera directly into a neighbours house are positively 'not on' and prison would be more appropriate than a fine for the offender..although he/she would then have three square meals a day, x box, television, sports hall, dental treatment, library, mobile phone (yep ! mobile phone although they shouldn't)...On second thoughts I would rather deal with the offender personally.
  10. I can look forward to purchasing my annual licence to use my video recording equipment then !! I'm not joking. So, I'm sitting watching the Isle of Wight(spelling ?) rock festival on television and the cameras pan to close ups of virtually hundreds present at that festival over the time period of the festival. Is this deemed invasion of privacy according to the various statutes...if not...why not ? And how do you define "...the STATUS of the user.." ? landed gentry..MPs..and so on..please explain. I hasten to add that I and virtually the entire population of that land can video freely in public in the USA. So yet another invisible tax is on the Horizon in this green and pleasant land of ours in the form of some sort of licence in order to use your few thousand quids worth of equipment..typical.
  11. ".... I think I willtry a new NVM,.." Don't see the point if you've got it up and running, and personally I wouldn't waste my time looking for a replacement chip. Enjoy the panel as is for now, but give serious consideration to Al-yeti's comments viz; new panel.
  12. I agree It's possible, but would need some qualification, what test would you recommend for confirmation ?
  13. Only ever used a bracket once, very enclosed space at bottom of stairs, otherwise I wouldn't bother.
  14. There are ready made mounting holes on the pir for corner or straight wall placement. It's not often that a bracket is needed except in certain circumstances. Can you mount it in the corner of a room or flat wall ? Remember to seal any other holes to prevent dust and insect ingress. Usually, the pcb needs to be removed for mounting in this way (don't lose the pcb screw)..but not always...depends on the pir.
  15. In thirty or more years my current readings have been in that region, not always, but more often than not. The reason for mentioning this is to ensure that the reading for the OP is not abnormally low.
  16. Might be worth checking the battery charging current, nominally 500mA or thereabouts. Also a current limiting resistor gone high value, look for burn marks around resistors in that area.
  17. Peter, thankyou for your valuable comments. I totally agree with everything you have said, and for that matter the observations of every contributor(too numerous to recall their names)should be applauded. If the implication is such that CCTV operators are not allowed to record audio according to the 'regulations' imposed upon that 'field' then you have reassured myself in some respects. However, it would be appreciated were you to accept that I have no intention of 'back-tracking'. My view is such that 'yobbos' congregating at the rear of the property (originating post)should, emphasis on should, be recorded complete with audio ... voice recognition is a favourable tool in the police armoury. Throughout these posts I have included actual and hypothetical situations where it is perceived that litigation is unlikely, and never has, arisen in the circumstances highlighted by myself. I am sure you are aware, however, that the industry manufactures cameras complete with audio facilities costing hundreds of pounds, and in so doing they recognise this 'need' in certain environments. As a member pointed out, this is not a forum for legal advice but perhaps it is worth adding that there are 'loopholes' within the legal environment which may be 'persuasive' although the audio may not be accepted as evidence inside the actual courtroom. I am not allowed to discuss the latter comment further.
