  1. Only until I get time to sort a replacement.
  2. Gonna fit something better once jobs finished. Done me good for 25years.
  3. Thanks al-yeti, thought removing wires might set alarm off. Will leave in engineer mode and not short wires!!, decorator needs panel off. Out of interest once in eng’ mode are those settings held at panel until coming out of it again?
  4. Hi. I need to remove the keypad for my Abacus 6 for decorating purposes. Have done it before in the past but can’t remember what I did before disconnecting the key pad wires so that it doesn’t go into alarm. Had the front off using engineers code and can see the wires going into the terminal block on the back. Thanks.
  5. So out of those recommend which would be the more straight forward to swap wiring wise with my Abacus? Don't need fancy, just reliable.
  6. Splitters are adjacent to the panel in the loft so other than maybe some cable extensions. wiring otherwise should be OK. What would the Accent initial setup be like versus Galaxy, similar to Abacus?
  7. When I installed my Abacus 6, for some reason can't remember why, I had the complication of fitting splitters, so how many zones should I be looking for to replace, will 8 cover it without past splitter complications? At present I have. 1 keypad, don't need 2 5 users 4 Pyronix KX15DT PIR's, 2 of the 4 when on part set 1 garage door on contacts (not entry/exit) 2 panics 2 doors on entry/exit 1 sounder Anything else need to know? Would like to keep things simple and was thinking of the Accenta G4 metal as firemonkeys suggestion.
  8. Was thinking of upto about £100 or so. Would rather go for quality if there's such a thing. Yes metal box like my Abacus and as panel fitted in loft cope with near freezing in winter to 38 degrees the other day....lol!
  9. Looking to update my old Abacus 6 which I installed myself some 20+ years ago to something more modern. Other than the odd PIR activation, over its lifetime has been trouble free. I have recently updated the bell box and the four PIR's to Pyronix KX15DT's so want to work with these and the existing wiring but will be replacing door contacts etc. Nothing fancy, just two entry/exit doors, kitchen PIR on final set, two panic's and more often than not part set, only two PIR's due to cats left in house. Want one remote keypad in the kitchen with the panel located in the loft as at present but might add a couple more PIR's. What models would be recommended as a replacement for the Abacus. Thanks.
  10. Have a couple of things to look at in the short term then. In the long term think it's Abacus RIP time and will replace with a modern unit but will start anew topic on that. Thanks for your replies.
  11. Have checked either side of the log pics shown but only shows being set 5 days prior and entry info when I unset the system 1 day after the alarm. I had been away for a few days, must have re-set itself. Thought about changing the flush door contact as a starter. The kitchen PIR was not active as only a part-set which I use normally. Same log info shown when what I described in post #1.
  12. Garage does have a detector on up and over door but not used now permanently locked, can't remember when last serviced. Used as part set as cats always left in house Must be 20 years plus!
  13. Can anyone suggest what is happening here please. I have an Abacus 6 installation which has recently started to give this problem. On leaving the house a couple of times this week and leaving through the final exit kitchen door into my garage, I get the usual good set beeps and the system has set. A couple of minutes while I have still been in the garage, the system has gone into alarm without warning. On checking the log the message shows CctA 2A ExFx KITCHEN and ALARM, TRBL. I am thinking maybe a faulty kitchen door contact but would have thought if contact has been unmade, I would have heard the entry warning beeps before going into alarm as I do if I open the door on entry as normal? Any pointers please?
  14. Thanks for that datadiffusion. I have no problem with mains left connected, quite use to working around electrics.
  15. So just a case of unplugging the old without risk of data loss etc.
