  1. I now have all sensors working. I acknowledge that it is not advisable (or compliant) to wire more than one device per circuit since you cannot identify which circuit has activated but until I can upgrade the control panel this will suffice. The following was helpful. http://www.securitywarehouse.co.uk/forums/topic/46-wiring-2-or-more-sensors-onto-a-single-zone/
  2. I'm not sure I understand your meaning
  3. Thanks for your help James. I will leave it as it is for now but probably update the control panel to one with more zones in the future. I agree with your comment regarding builders/alarm specialists, it probably also applies to home owners/alarm specialists but sometimes finance is a consideration.
  4. I agree that the 2 sensors have not been working. They were connected in parallel, I have tried each of them separately connected to zone 4 and they both work. Is there a way of connecting the unused PIR into the system? If its complex, disruptive and/or expensive I may decide to leave one of them permanently disconnected. The house is fairly well covered and it would still be better than it has been for the last 20 years.
  5. Thanks for your response. The PIR's for the landing and kitchen were both connected directly to zone 4, I disconnected one of them. Are you saying that I should change one of the PIR's to a latching sensor and reconnect as it was? I don't know what a latching centre is - could you recommend a suitable unit please. Thanks
  6. I have disconnected the landing sensor in the box and the kitchen now works. I now have the following Zone 1 - Front door contact sensor Zone 2 - PIR Zone 3 - PIR Zone 4 - PIR Zone 5 - 3 doors with contact sensors Zone 6 - PIR Unused PIR on landing Do I have any options for landing PIR?
  7. All the zones are being used. The landing sensor is probably least important. I'm not confident about messing with the spaghetti in the box, could I wire through at the sensor?
  8. James, I assume that it has always worked since they flashed has I walked past them and the system armed etc. I've not done a walk through test until today.
  9. Yes it has worked for years with out any problems
  10. Thanks, will these be the red/yellow wires at the sensor? I assume that I leave the other 4 wires connected to the sensor?
  11. The system was installed by builder 20 year ago and has worked well. Any idea how I resolve? I think I posted this in wrong area so I've also added to members area
  12. I recently found that the keypad on my Optima XM alarm was not working. I have changed the battery and managed to get it working. After doing this I decided to do a walk test to confirm that everything was working. Everything is working except zone 4 which has a PIR on the landing and a PIR in the kitchen. The PIR's both flash when I walk past but do not trigger the alarm. All connections appear to be OK The system was installed by builder 20 years ago and has worked well throughout (2 new batteries) Is it likely to be a faulty PIR? How do I find out which one? Thanks
