I bought my panel back in 1998ish. I installed all the cabling, but never got around to installing the alarm panel. I'm now preparing to finish the job! I've been in touch with Challenger who were no help what so ever ? they're saying its obsolete, so can't (wont) help. I'd like to fit a remote keypad to the main panel. What was the original part number for this keypad please? And.. are there any alternatives I can use please? Secondly, I'm assuming I can fit any PIR with the same termination (12 volt power, Tamper, Relay contact)? Thanks in advance for any useful help ?

Hi A quick query about my self-installed Galaxy G2-20 panel and zone status in Menu 21. I have three Honeywell Wireless IR(PI)8M PIR's connected via a C079-2 RF Portal. In addition, several wired PIR's. The wireless PIR's have connected to the panel fine and I get the serial numbers and signal strength information etc.. When testing the wired PIR's I can see the current status of these (OPEN/CLOSED) in Menu 21 Zone Status depending on the live detection. However, I do not get a toggle between OPEN and CLOSED in Zone Status for my wireless PIR's if I place a live movement (a cooperating family member) in those rooms - is this normal? When I do a walk test the wireless PIR's detect me correctly and the system works fine. The lack of a live zone status for the wireless PIR's is just niggling me. Many thanks

Lights switching on via occupancy detectors every time the external door is opened and the door alarm sensor activates. The alarm and lights are on different circuits, and cables do not run in close proximity to each other. Has anyone had this before?

Hey all, just in the process of rejigging the alarm, and it's been a while since I've tinkered with the wired stuff... I want to switch a single PIR for a Shock on my G2-20... Forgetting the 'quality' of the wiring, how would this transplant over to the Viper? And resister location?? Thanks in advance!

About 12 months ago I fitted a Texecom Premier Elite wireless system. The system commissioned without any problems and walk test was fine. The system consists of 6 PIR's, 4 Dual and 2 Quads. Since then I have had 4 false alarms, all on the Quad PIR's . The first 2 (about 2 months apart was on the landing PIR, one at about 5 in morning and one mid afternoon. I could see no reason for the alarm. PIR facing a number of closed doors and no windows. In the end I changed this out for a Dual PIR. Last night I had the second false alarm in the dining room. Again a Quad PIR facing in from the window and towards the center of the room. I took it down and saw no obvious issues with it. As a temporary measure I have set this sensor to double knock (7 seconds). I have just ordered another Dual PIR but would be interested in any views as to why I am getting false alarms. (Wishing now I had cabled the PIR's instead....) Thanks, Nigel Read more:

I recently found that the keypad on my Optima XM alarm was not working. I have changed the battery and managed to get it working. After doing this I decided to do a walk test to confirm that everything was working. Everything is working except zone 4 which has a PIR on the landing and a PIR in the kitchen. The PIR's both flash when I walk past but do not trigger the alarm. All connections appear to be OK The system was installed by builder 20 years ago and has worked well throughout (2 new batteries) Is it likely to be a faulty PIR? How do I find out which one? Thanks

Hi, I'm planning to replace an old 4 zone alarm and want to extend coverage for the gound floor. So I'll end up with a PIR on the landing and 5 downstairs plus two door contacts. Is the placement on the plan attached OK?

Hey guys, I was wonderign what brand of sensors (PIR, combination, glass break etc.) do You use and prefer? You can choose more than one so you can mark all of the brands you like. Share your opinion If you have other brand you prefer, or want to mention specific type you are especally fond of after the voting, do so in the comments
