  1. Hi all, New to the alarm game. I've recently had extensive work done at my house and took the opportunity to put alarm cables at all windows and external doors and for a couple for PIRs. Purchased a used flex 50 from ebay. I've powered it up and seems to be showing the right signs of working properly (led on after 30 secs then flashing every 1.5 secs). I also have a mk8 prox keypad arriving soon. Is there anything I can do to check the keypad is functioning ok so I know if I need to return it? Also, any recommendations for PIRs (have no pet at the moment but might in the future)? Also need an external sounder (also have an alarm cable for this). Thanks
  2. Hello, I'm just wondering about the amount of hardware you can add to a GD-C048 with the available address line. The instructions say I can have 8 keypads (3 prox), 4 RIOs and 4 RF RIOs It seems you can add lots of stuff but much of it is limited by the rotary address switches and there appears to be some overlap. Is a keypad on address 2 the same as a RIO on address 2? Basically, I have 3 keypads, 0,1 and 2, along with 3 RIOs and 1 RF RIO which must take addresses 2-5 which means, if they work as the same address, then one must overlap with a keypad, also the RF RIO tried to take up 2 bunches of addresses and in fact keeps appearing as 102x and 103x no matter what I set its switch to be, and why is there a gap between 5-B which I can't seem to use. In short, do I need a 96 or above to run 1xTC(prox), 1xMK7(prox), 1xMK8(prox), 3xRIO, 1xRF RIO? It all gets a bit confusing Cheers, Gordon.
  3. Hi All I have a query about the extent of compatibility of the Touchcenter keypad when connected to a Galaxy G2-20 panel. I purchased the Touchcenter with some ignorance not aware that I would not be able to unlock all the slick features as it really is a Galaxy Dimension component. It seems that the only function available to me on the Touchcenter is the emulated MK7 keypad (which works fine). What is a little irritating is the incorrect date and time displayed on the home screen (shown before I press the MK7 keypad icon). Of course, the emulated display shows the correct date and time. Has anybody worked out a way to set the correct date and time on the home screen when using a Galaxy G2 or enabled any other features. I suspect the answer is no! Thank you.
  4. Hi A quick query about my self-installed Galaxy G2-20 panel and zone status in Menu 21. I have three Honeywell Wireless IR(PI)8M PIR's connected via a C079-2 RF Portal. In addition, several wired PIR's. The wireless PIR's have connected to the panel fine and I get the serial numbers and signal strength information etc.. When testing the wired PIR's I can see the current status of these (OPEN/CLOSED) in Menu 21 Zone Status depending on the live detection. However, I do not get a toggle between OPEN and CLOSED in Zone Status for my wireless PIR's if I place a live movement (a cooperating family member) in those rooms - is this normal? When I do a walk test the wireless PIR's detect me correctly and the system works fine. The lack of a live zone status for the wireless PIR's is just niggling me. Many thanks
  5. Hi all, looking for some information on a galaxy g3 - 520. Any good info out there on these panels? NB: Never go to menu access (68) eng access and turn all user access rights off...
  6. Hi, I am attempting to install a Honeywell Galaxy G2-20 System. Having a background in electronic engineering (a degree many years ago), I thought that I may be able to install the system myself. I have used the G2-20 with the RF Portal and several wireless detectors (3 x PIR's, 4 x door contacts), controlled through a Mk7 Keypad. I have powered the main panel, the RF Portal and mounted all the detectors. I have then assigned all the wireless detectors and they all have a unique address. My issue is that upon assigning these contacts, then attempting to come out of engineer mode the system fails the tamper checks. However, the zones that have the detectors have no issues, it is the zones that I not assigned any detectors to all show TAMPER (for reference these are zones 1014-1018). If someone could help me by explain how what I have done incorrectly / not done in order to clear this issue I would be very grateful. Is there a way to 'permanently omit' these zones? Regards, James
  7. Hello, I've got a Galaxy MK7 keypad giving a keypad tamper. The tamper switch on the rear of the keypad is not being adequately pressed down by the mounting plate and accompanying tamper peg. Does anyone have any advice on a short term solution for this issue? Regards, Jack
  8. Hi all, I'm looking to have an alarm fitted in my 4 bed house and doing some research prior to getting some more quotes in. Smartphone connectivity with a good app/push notifications is high on my priority list. The first quotation I have is for a Pyronix - mix of hard wired and wireless detectors. I like the company but I don't like the aesthetics of the panel/keypad configuration offered. I do really like the look of the Galaxy with Mk 8 keypad, but I can't find any detailed reviews on google about the GX app. Also it looks like there are other third party apps for the Galaxy. Am I correct in thinking a Galaxy system will probably in the same ballpark as a HKC which is also high on my list, price wise? Can anyone share their opinions? Many thanks, Richard
  9. Hi Guys, We currently have a 10 year old, wired, Nexus 8 intruder alarm. Intending to change it and got a quote from a company for £1000. Anyway...seen this Galaxy G2-20 wireless pack online and it seemed good value for money. Questions: 1. Would it be easy enough to self install/replace the existing one with? 2. I assume (from looking at online manual) that the only wiring that would be involved would be between the keypad, control panel and RF portal? 3. How would I stop the bell box from going off outside if I was to change the panel about? Appreciate the tips guys.
  10. Good morning, I've assembled the parts of the Galaxy Flex 20 I got the day before yesterday and am having trouble with the keypad. When powering up the system, it beeps and shows a bunch of "*****" on the lcd. I've connected the keypad to the PCB using Cat5, to the green terminal block on the right hand side of the PCB, with single strands to each terminal and I've put a 680Ohm resistor on the AB terminals of the keypad ( (please see attached picture) I've used a multi meter to double check the wires are OK. Voltage on the keypad between + and - is 13V. The keypad address initially I set to B, and then learned only 0-7 are allowed, so I put it back to '0' (after powering off the system) Yesterday evening I talked to the guy who sold it to me and he said I made the right connections. I leave the cover open, but put a tape on the tamper switch to keep it closed I've read this earlier post and answers: So I'm stuck and would appreciate any feedback. Cheers, Bram
  11. Hey all, just in the process of rejigging the alarm, and it's been a while since I've tinkered with the wired stuff... I want to switch a single PIR for a Shock on my G2-20... Forgetting the 'quality' of the wiring, how would this transplant over to the Viper? And resister location?? Thanks in advance!
  12. HI, I wonder if anybody knows how to configure a Galaxy Flex Panel so I can operate the Outputs via the GX App ? I wonder if I can interface with central heating.. Thanks, Juan
  13. I'm trying to get some Galaxy panels to send alarms through SMS modem pools via GSM transmitters that emulate PSTN. I've tried it with both the 16+ (SWE 3.69) and the Dimension48 and a couple of different GSM Transmitters but it simply won't work. It dials out fine but can't connect to the modem. I've pretty much admitted defeat already but it would be nice to know why it won't work and if GSM -> Modem is generally known to create issues.
  14. Evening All, Wondering if if I could get a bit of a steer if someone had a few minutes to help. I have a G2 recently installed myself and working perfectly well, no issues. Few detectors, keypads and siren. i have got a DualCom DigiAir with a years monitoring from my local ARC and would like to have a go at commissioning it myself before calling in a friend to check it over. i have no issues with the wiring of it, but more the programming of the Galaxy, could someone give a bit of direction if they had a few mins. Dualcom guide says I need to "The Digi-Modem must have an ARC telephone number and account number programmed for Dial Capture to work" - Do I need to programme the Galaxy with the actual PSTN number of the Arc if I was using a standard digi and account number on their monitoring platform, I would have thought that the DualCOM would have taken care of this - I.e Chip Number and GPRS communication back to the ARC. - Can anyone direct me and advise on this bit. Also, if using Dial Capture I assume I want to communicate in SIA? Can I define the essential pins/channels used if using DualCom I.e 3 (Intruder) 7(Confirmed ETC) ? Any advice on what the best practises or options needed configured on the Galaxy would be much appreciated. I am a Diy'r and enthusiast - Any advice appreciated. -PK
  15. Hi, We have a Galaxy G3 C520 system but the previous owners cancelled the contract when they left, and we're left with 'CALL ALARM CO QUOTE CODE XXXXX'. Is there any engineer in the Leicester/Derby/Notts area who could set the thing so we don't have to subscribe to ADT to get a reset code?
  16. Can anyone tell me how to register new wireless key fobs (TCC8M) to a Honeywell Galaxy 2 system please? Thanks in anticipation.
  17. Hi All, First time posting - so hello - avid reader, but never have replied or posted. Background: DIY'er - Few Systems for Friends and Family, love working at Intruder Worked for a While as a Engineer in Northern Ireland as part of a wider job role. Used to Work for ARC as System Support Engineer looking after IT Platforms managing Monitoring System Currently Work as IT Network Engineer I am planning to Install Galaxy Flex 050 System in my house (Flex 050, MK7's, Risco IWISE, Risco Siren, DualCom Monitoring) - just waiting on getting keys. I was going to go down the G2 Route, as I have done numerous installations before, however managed to pick up a second user Flex System (Yes I Know), so thought I would give it a go. First problem is finding the Engineer Reset Procedure for the Flex - I have it for the G2 and done it before, however not sure if the Flex is the same? Also missing the install manual - so trying to locate this, can anyone offer any advice. I am aware around the ethics around my above request, but thought I would ask, if I cannot get anywhere, I will just buy a new G2 Panel, however I believe that the DualCOM Module can plug straight onto the Flex Mobo - Has anyone done this? Any advice? If I got down the route of a G2, any advice on Monitoring - this will be keyholder only evidently, however wanted something more than an onbaord digi - I can get Webway or DualCOM, whats your thoughts. Many Thanks -PK
